Here Comes the Harvest

August 15th, 2008

Every day I have more and more tomatoes coming ripe. This year I’m growing only 2 kinds of tomatoes: Viva Italia and Lemon Boy. I have picked 4 lbs of Viva Italia so far and only 1 Lemon Boy.

So what am I doing with all these tomatoes? I’m planning on canning them later on, but right now we’re eating them as fast as I can pick them. We love them grilled and tossed with pasta or on top of a pizza.

What are you doing with all your ripe tomatoes?

Thanks DD. I miss you too. I just found the photo the other day of us sitting out each window of your little red car before we headed off to RLCA for camp.

Glad you’re enjoying the blog. Maybe you can teach your dogs to garden. I keep thinking I should get something out of the pets for as much money as I spend on them! Lucy’s pretty good at eating blueberries off the bush and strawberries. She does chase the occasional rabbit which is nice!

I picked a tomato from my ‘Oregon Spring’ plant the other day. I sliced it and served it with Brebis cheese and fresh basil. Delicious!

I love those lemon tomatoes…they sure look good!

They are super delicious! We love to eat them sliced with olive oil, basil, salt & pepper.
