Merry Christmas from Chiot’s Run
Last year Mr Chiots and I made up our own Christmas cards. We had a blast doing it, although getting the cats to pose the right way took a few tries! As you can tell the Chiots is the center of the family around here.
This year we didn’t mail out Christmas cards. We decided to save the money and donate it to charity instead. So by not sending out cards we were able to pay for a year of schooling for a child in Colombia. I’m sure our money will be much more effective that way!
I know Detailed Breakdown did the same this year, they donated funds to Heifer International. What about you? Anyone else going the charity route instead of the card route this year?

We did cards, but we made donations to Heifer as part of our family’s white elephant exchange. It was fun!

We have a long-running Christian Children’s Fund donation for a couple of kids (my husband likes the letters and drawings from the kids), and every year we opt out of the family gift exchange and donate money to a charity (Heifer International is a favorite for us, too). Because frankly, none of our family members need any more crap, and our money is best sent elsewhere.
Happy belated Christmas!

That is a much better idea than getting blisters from scissors making cards and then paying a fortune to send them to people where they will get stacked up with everyone elses. I think next year I’ll make a card that I can email to folks and explain the deal about why they’re getting stiffed on paper cards. :) Thanks for the idea!
