5 + 1 = 6
Well, if you remember that little cat that showed up outside you’ll know what this post is about. He stuck around and no one claimed him (we put up posters all over town). So we took him to the vet, got him vaccinated and fixed, brought him home and coined him Dexter. We’ve been acclimating him to the other pets in the family for the past few weeks and all is well. They’re not best buddies yet, but the hissing has subsided. So now there are 6 members of the Chiot’s Run Family.
There’s the Chiots of course, the namesake of the garden.
Then there’s Samson, the orange cat I’ve always wanted. He’s a lovable cat always wanting to be held.
There’s Sofie, she’s the dominate pet in the household. She rules the roost and all the other animals answer to her. She’s also the biggest cat in the household, though you can’t tell by the photo. She beats up on the other cats to make sure they know she’s boss.
Of course now there’s Dexter. He’s the talkative member of the household, always chirping and meowing. He’s a playful little guy, probably because he’s only a year old.
He’s been fun to have around. We have however hit our limit of pets, 4 is enough for us. Too bad if any more show up, they’ll be left to fend for themselves.
How many pets do you have running around the house?

Awww, I love your furbabies! They’re so cute!
Our limit is 2 pets, so it’s just our black cats, Twiggy and Raleigh. They’re our kids!

Wow Kristin, that’s a lot of pets. And I thought 4 was a lot, how do you afford to feed them?

We have the same, 1 dog, three cats. Our third cat was abandoned at our place as well.

Susy — I keep forgetting to tell you how much I love your blog! The photos are amazing. Being a pathetic animal lover, and a particularly pathetic cat-lover, this post pretty much rocked… I hope we can meet Dexter someday soon!
Thanks so much for checking in at the blog now & then… Oh my Blog Newbie-ness.
But I’m learning from the greats… :)
Love from the Goldens!

I have 9 cats and I’m praying no more cats show up at my house. My friends keep telling me to stop getting more cats, but you can’t just turn them away when they show up hungry and in need of a home and love.

Wow Lee, 9 cats. I have a soft spot in my heart for cats as well. Which is why I cannot look at the ones up for adoption in Petsmart!

Tasha, you’ll love Dexter. He’s super friendly, no hiding when guests come over like our other cats.

We only have one cat, but we are looking forward to one more plus a dog. We have to wait unti we move since our current neighbor hood association has strict limitations on pets. Boo! I love your little cuties. Just adorable!

[…] Dexter’s feeling right at home here at Chiot’s Run. He’s enjoying having food all the time and living inside a warm & toasty house. He’s decided he really like the domesticated life, especially the posturepedic mattress he gets to sleep on all day. Samson (our orange cat) is enjoying having a new playmate, we hear them often running up and down the hall. Dexter’s even decide that Lucy’s OK and he no longer hisses at her. We’re enjoying having Dexter around as well. He adds a new dynamic to the household; he has a great personality and he’s very talkative. He’s quite a cutie isn’t he? Filed under pets | […]
