Looks Like Winter?

April 8th, 2009

When we woke up yesterday morning it no longer looked like spring here in Ohio. Everything was covered with a blanket of snow. Fortunately everything I have outside can take a little cold & snow.

I really don’t mind days like this, they make me appreciate the nice days even more. Not to mention, if we didn’t have days like this I’d never get the house cleaned. I also spend the snowy/rainy spring days making up batches of soup and bread for the freezer. They make quick meals on those days that I spend every daylight hour getting outside chores finished up.

What do you spend the snowy/rainy days doing?

I usually spend rainy days (we dont get too many snowy days lukcily) catching up on the housework and if the weather is bad for a while I will tackle some of the decorating that needs doing in the house.

Though I have been known to sulk when the weather is bad at the weekend and I only have this time to garden!!!!

Oh yeah, I hate rainy cold weekends. It seems like it’s easier to deal with during the week.

Although I’ve been known to be out working in the snow & rain :)

I made sure newly planted things were protected and headed for the cozy warm fireplace. The smell of baking bread while it is cold outside is so comforting. I like your attitude of making the best of the situation.

I’ve been at work – not through the snow though, its just been the gloom and the rain here in CT for the past 4 days. I do miss the sun, though you are right that it will make it all the more welcome when it does come. It feels like the week goes much slower when it is gray and dark outside. I’d like to clear out and organize my kitchen (ok, I admit, my entire house has slipped a bit) and have that satisfaction at least out of the day….

I spent the snowy day sewing some trial fabric birdhouses and catching up on all you fun bloggers out there. We had snow too but missed the worst of it. It snowed all day but didn’t stay on the ground. An hour north of us they had 4-5 inches on the ground. Today I’ll be outside again since it’s supposed to be 50 and sunny. Yeah!

We’ll be out today as well. We’re supposed to get our bees this afternoon, so we have a few small tasks to finish up before we get them. Hopefully it’s warm when we get home with them.

I love the picture of your stone sun! Hilarious! It’s like he has a floppy hat on! Cold days like this make me grateful (in a weird way) for my desk job inside. I used to work outdoors and days like this were rough being outside for 6-8 hours with 20 complaining junior high kids!. So I guess a desk job in a dark basement has it’s perks, although they are few and far between.

Yes, I love that photo as well. It’s like he’s wearing a snow beret.

I spend days like that wishing and hoping for the sun to peek though. I guess I must also do other stuff. We often watch movies as a family or play games. Sometimes I do remodeling stuff….but mostly I just long for nicer weather!

Well when we had the most recent snow I wanted to just close the drapes and think it was not happening. If we have a warm rain I often keep gardening away in it, I don’t mind. The weeds come out easier in the rain.

I made chili. Yum! Our snow looked just like that. Thankfully, it’s all gone now!

[…] it’s Ohio, I knew the weather was too good to last. We frequently get snow in March and in April (last year we had snow on April 7). I don’t think I have any photos of Easter egg hunts as a kid without winter coats covering up […]
