Lovin’ Life at Chiot’s Run

April 17th, 2009

Lucy is lovin’ life right now. She’s finally doing well enough that we don’t have to watch her like a hawk every minute of the day. (if you weren’t around when she got injured read this and this).

We’re having beautiful weather here in Ohio at the moment (mid 60’s and sunny). Lucy is really enjoying it because we’ve been chaining her to a tree in the yard. She’s still not able to run free as she used to, but she’s enjoying laying in the grass basking in the sun. The garden’s namesake can finally enjoy the gardens again.

She’s still doing therapy, which consists of many short walks around the yard increasing in distance every few days. But the nice weather makes these therapy sessions much more enjoyable both for her and us.

I’m enjoying this weather as well, the sun on my back, my fingers not being numb while working outside; I could get used to this.

What about you, are you having perfect gardening or basking in the sun weather?

If you’d have asked yesterday, I would have said I sure was enjoying the still chilly but sunny weather. Today, I’ll just say I hope my tomatoes survive this very late light frost! Love the weather. :)

My big man Boscoe came to me with 2 torn ACLs and a bit of a delicate walk because of it. He’s a rescued old man beagle. One finally went and he had to have surgery that worked like a champ. The other leg we did home therapy along with the one that was fixed and he is doing fab. They can heal with time, just don’t rush it even when they want to rush it. I think that is the key :)

    Lucy is a cutie pie.

It is beautiful here in CT, close to 70*F yesterday, and in the 70*s they say today and the weekend with loads of sunshine – every reason to love life! Lucy is positively beautiful. Makes me wish I could give her a big hug and just enjoy the sun. Glad to hear she is healing up so well :-)

So glad that Lucy is slowly recovering well. A few years ago we too had one our dogs out of commission, (http://summerofequis.blogspot.com/2006/08/prodigal-dog.html) he is better now, although we have not gone backpacking with him where he carries any weight in his dogpack since then like he loved to do so before his injury.

I know what you mean, we love to camp & hike (and Lucy LOVES hiking). But since her injury (Jan 6) no hiking, and no camping vacations for us. She’s finally good enough that my mom can take care of her with no trouble, so we’re back in business for hiking & camping vacations. Lucy will still be out of hiking commission until at least this fall and probably more like next year about this time. She’ll never be able to run off leash at the hunting cabin though, not worth the risk of reinjury!

Glad to see lovely Lucy photos…she is such a beauty. We’re also having lovely gardening weather and just spent the morning out at our rural parcel letting the dogs play (and checking out our gardening areas…the weeds are coming uplike crazy, even though it was less tan 2 weeks ago that we had 6 inches of snow drop on us…gotta get to work!!).

Lucy is a love. She really looks to be doing much much better. :D Love her eyes.

My garden has been sadly neglected to the my recent car accident. I do hope to be less stiff and able to clean my garden beds to get my veggies going. For now I’m living vicariously through your gardening. ;)
