Quote of the Day: Rachel Carson
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”
~ Rachel Carson
We truly do live in a beautiful world. You can find beauty in nature everywhere you look. We often think of flowers when we think about the beauty of nature, but what about the little things we often don’t even notice, like moss.
What kinds of things do you find most beautiful about the earth?

Very nice, I sometimes think that the beauty in the simplest things goes unnoticed. I find those places and things that are still untouched by man and civilization to be the most beautiful.

I just found your blog through Mike’s blog and loved your quote and photo (one of my favorite flowers) from today’s post! I find great beauty in the small, unexpected things like a lizard on the front step, a tiny frog on our window, a perfect spider’s web, a gorgeously patterned snake, or a tiny weed with a perfect little flower. This morning I was stunned by the beauty of our first pomegranate flower! We live in suburbia and I love it when I find signs of “real” wildlife in our little garden! Silke

It really is everywhere. It is in that loaf of bread rising on the counter and the smell of it when it bakes. It is in the line of baby ducks making their first foray out with Mom and even in the Tomato Hornworm right before you fling it off the tomatoes into the woods nearby. It really is everywhere.

It’s probably a reflection of living in country Aus, but the light and the sky catch me often here; so big and so clear. And the small things draw me into their otherworld – the texture of bark or clean lines of new bulb leaves. The way cosmos flowers float on the breeze. Even 5 minutes of being conscious in the garden each day is enough to top me up :)

I love the fragrance of the seasons in their prime and while they change. Reveling in the change of light in the magic hour of the afternoon is one of my greatest pleasures. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world–these things remain.

I must say the things I find the most beautiful on Earth are waterscapes. There’s nothing like coming across a mossy creek with clear, cool water. Your photo is EXCELLENT, by the way!
