Open Windows
It’s the perfect weather for open windows here at Chiot’s Run. There’s nothing better than enjoying the breeze blowing through the house and hearing the birds singing outside.
Some summers we can have our windows open all summer here in Ohio, other summers it’s hot and muggy and the air conditioner gets turned on. I’m hoping we have another cool summer this year so we can have the windows open all summer long, I love open window season!
Do you like open windows?

I do love open windows, especially since air-conditioning literally makes me sick. Like nauseous, headache-y, brain-numbingly sick…. I don’t know why, but I do. Dread the air-conditioning at work in the summer, and make my houseguests crazy when I whimper at the requests to put it on during their visits. Windows are a wonderful thing…. I love the feeling of a warm breeze coming through with all the sunshine.

I love open windows too! Even a hint of less than frigid weather in winter will see me with them open. Summer here is just horrible so there is not escaping AC once it gets its hooks in. We’ve already had days above 90 (and it got to 88 in the house) so AC has already made it’s debut for the year.
Spring and fall are my favorites…windows open, clean breezes…ahh.

Here in the humid south, that depends…;-) Sometimes my husband opens all the windows and pretty soon it feels as sticky inside as it does outside. But right now with reasonable temperatures and the jasmine blooming outside, it’s heavenly having in the windows open!!

Not really. I like when the windows are closed in winter just because I can’t hear the traffic and the dogs and the birds. It’s kind of loud here, surprisingly. I need to have a fan on to be able to sleep when the windows are open.

We love open windows in the spring and fall, except for the neighbor dog that barks and barks and barks to be let in for hours at a time.

I love having the windows open until the humidity starts to get too high here in the southeast.

That’s when we start turning the AC on here as well. It can get pretty humid in Ohio.

I used to sleep with open windows in PA but the pollen kills me. Now in WV it’s usually a bit warm in the main part of summer. I like the fresh air but it doesn’t always agree with me!

i love to have the windows open until it gets too humid… my husband likes the ac to be on if it hits 80, so that gets annoying sometimes! we also turn on the ac if the farmers are out in the fields and it’s dusty… that bothers all of our sinuses! (and our dogs bark constantly at the tractors!)

I like that photo! Yes, I love having the windows open, and we frequently leave them open all summer. Being that our house does not have air condition, we especially leave the windows open at night during hot spells so that we can cool down the house…it’s surprising how well it works! Most people think we’re crazy for living without air conditioning in California, but oh well, it saves energy!

I love open windows. But it seems like the amount of time in South Jersey that we are able to do this gets shorter and shorter each year.
I get afternoon sun that heats up my house pretty bad.. I wish I could avoid the air conditioning all together..
But I love gardening and that means sun.
Right now my windows are open because it has been raining through weekend till today
My son is going to Ohio State and they do not have airconditioning..hopefully he will be okay

I love open windows! We have 6-7 months above 90 here. Many of those months it only cools off to 105 at midnight, so opening the windows on those days doesn’t last for long; just a couple of minutes to let in some fresh air.
We can have the windows open for a little longer if we run the ceiling fans. We are having a mild year here so far, which is such a blessing in the garden (and on the electric bill!)

I love having the windows open! I’ll bundle up if I have to. The fresh air is worth it.

Your photograph is lovely–you can almost feel the breeze :) This reminds me of a post I did not do of a spring milestone–the day we took the shrink wrap off the inside of the windows. Do you shrink wrap yours? It was news to me when I got to the cold north that the windows in the old house were too drafty and so we would have to seal ourselves in. The idea of not opening the windows for 5 months seemed awful! And then you realize you wouldn’t open them anyway. So yes! We are rejoicing with open windows. In another month or so, they’ll stay open all the time.
