Garden Quote: Claude Monet
“I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.”
— Claude Monet
I too love flowers, I’ll never have strictly edibles in my garden. I’ll always have some peonies, siberian irises, zinnias, hollyhocks, foxgloves, hydrangeas, and other beautiful blooms in my gardens.
What’s your favorite blooming plant?

Totally beautiful! I couldn’t survive without flowering plants. I try to mix the two. I’ve got a standard rose in the middle of my parsnip bed…

In my own garden I like old fashioned romantic flowers. In the gardens I design for others I like easy care, deer resistant flowers–peonies are one for sure. Thanks for a beautiful blog and a nice visit on a Sunday morning.

So hard to pick just one — I love peonies and lilacs for their scent, columbine for the shape of the flower, hydrangeas for their color (blue, especially), giant allium for the simplicity of bloom…I could keep going…

I too love big blue hydrangeas. Unfortunately we had a super cold winter, so I think my Nikko Blue won’t bloom this year.

I can’t pick just one. For sheer WOW factor, my oriental poppy is always a favorite. OK, if I have to choose one, it would be oriental lilies – they smell like Heaven, are so big and beautiful they look fake and they are so easy to grow.

I so love flowers in my garden too – and in my house when I feel like cutting some won’t ruin the outside display. My favorite one that I grow? Wow that is hard. Currently I love my dianthus for its pretty display but mostly for its scent. Then there are the peonies. I have only had them for a few years, but I just adore them. At least while they are in bloom, which is for not long enough.
BTW I left you an award on my blog. If you are into such things pass it along.

I could never have strictly edibles either, even though I think a bright sunny squash flower is about the prettiest thing there is. I am a sucker for anything daisy-like, and especially if it’s orange, red, or yellow. So as one might expect, I have tons of rudbeckia, echinacea, gaillardia, and shasta daisies all over.

My favorite flowering plant is a climbing rose. Sadly – I ripped all my roses out last year because I couldn’t get the black spot under control. It rains too much here. I’m not sure how to grow roses without growing black spot.

There are so many flowers I love, but the one I most yearn to have in our garden is the peony – not the right climate for it here. There are so many flowers though that all stun me when I see their perfect flowers: poppies, roses, lilacs, hydrangeas, citrus flower (for the scent), pomegranate flowers, and many more…. :) Silke

I love peonies as well. I’m working on adding more to the gardens here. I’m going to be getting some from my mom and I bought 6 new ones.

I was just sharing your blog with my father, and when we saw this page, he said, “This is the most amazing photographer I’ve seen in a long time.” I wanted to pass it on, and agree whole-heatedly. Lilacs, honeysuckle, dewdrop flowers…. just some of our favs.

I have a particular fondness for primula. I currently have 6 varieties and multiples of each. It seems every year I add more.

I absolutely love daffodils. It means spring is at hand! I get excited to see them and I absolutely love their smell…
Now, when I kick the bucket, I want daisies though…pushing up daisies…sounds funny to me!

I am mainly a flower gardener; Scott is the veggie farmer around here. My favorites are the native woodlands: Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Bloodroot, Trillium, Hepatica. They’re not as flashy as my Peonies, Poppies or oriental Lilies, but they are pure magic.

I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite. I’m really loving my lavender this year. To that I would have to add peonies, sweet peas, hollyhocks and cleome.
