Rain, Rain, Glorious Rain

July 19th, 2009

We finally had some rain this weekend after a long dry spell. We’ve been really needing some around here because everything was getting kind of brown and crispy.

I love sitting on the porch during thunderstorms and feeling the cool breeze, watching the lightning and listening the thunder. While enjoying the rain I snapped a few photos of the rain on one of my hanging baskets.

My mom’s not the kind of person that likes to go outside during a thunderstorm. Unless it’s really bad, I’m usually on the front porch during the storms, I just love them!

What about you, do you like to get out and enjoy thunderstorms, or do you like to stay inside?

After a week with some sunshine finally, I like the rain again too. Sometimes I like the thunderstorms, sometimes not. We live near the top of a hill in the trees so can’t see the lightning despite getting some really close hits. I liked the storms growing up better. We had a long view and you could see the lightning.

I love thunderstorms! We always watch them and if it is a big one, we like to get out to the coast as it is so flat you can see for miles!

Oh I love the rain. And we’ve been having a bit of it lately around here. Thank goodness because before that, I was having to water in the garden everyday. But we should dry out a little this coming week.

Our late afternoon rains lately have been filled with lightning ERR!!! I don’t like the lightning at all. Some strikes have been very close too. When it’s lightning, I’m inside LOL

Your pics are so cool! Thanks for sharing!

I like to go on my screened-in porch, until it gets windy. I don’t do windy!

There is something profoundly serene in a thunderstorm. Listening at an open window while the cool air washes through is one of my favorite things.

We have a porch half way around the house so I am always out on it when I’m home and it’s raining. This is a combination of being a storm enthusiast & the satellite goes down in the rain :-) Great photo of the rain hitting the tomato!

Our electric often goes off during thunderstorms. I think it’s a combination of living in a rural area and being a member of a small electric co-op.

Have always felt keenly interested in watching electrical storms and even though I live in a part of the world that is known for it’s abundance of rain – I still like to watch a particularly good rain event play out too.

The rain splashing off of the tomato is a great shot.

I miss that kind of storm.

    Sigh.
