Some Rain, Finally
Yesterday we finally got some much needed rain. It’s been dry here all summer, particularly the last couple weeks. It’s so dry the native weeds are wilting and dying, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen happen.
I had to break down and drag out my sprinkler last week to water the flowerbeds and veggies beds. We didn’t get much rain, but it was some and I’m happy with the little we got, and I got a decent amount in the rain barrels to help cover the next dry spell.
How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

It’s darn right fallish here and I love it. Oh wanted to thank you again for the garlic info. I planted mine over the weekend. Four gorgeous varities! I can’t wait to harvest them next year!

Fallish here too, I opened the blinds this morning and noticed yellow leaves in the yard and the dogwood trees are getting red. Bittersweet.

If you want rain please come and get it from TN! It’s rained everyday for the last two weeks it seems. Picked up another 1/3 of an inch this morning in about 20 minutes. The garden and the yard are a mess but I just can’t get out there to do anything.

We got a mere 1/4 inch here, ugh. You could mail some of that rain to me.

Dry here too. My mom’s been watering with our run-off and she ran it dry this week. Crispy..

we might get some rain today, i hope. haven’t checked the doppler, have had no rain now for almost a moth. even the continuous spring coming down the hill, here has slowed to a crawl. my small ponds are empty, the pup is sad, no frog hunting for her or swimming. after the wettest summer in a long time now we have a dry fall. ebb and flow. ebb and flow.. happy equinox everyone!!

Similar to Dave, we have had non-stop rain for about 2 weeks, cause some major road closures now here in Atlanta, schools even have been closed all week so far.

We had rain for the first time in 22 days yesterday — almost breaking a 70-year record for the city (26 days back in 1938). Looks like more or less a week of rain for us now. The gardens need it.
On the other hand, before the dry spell this summer was one of our wettest ever. Go figure.

We have very similar weather, you must be parallel across ‘the pond’. We had zero rain for 20 days until yesterday when we had a nice gentle rain all day. The weather has been so nice this fall, it is certainly much appreciated after having such a cool summer.

We’re not super far away from you and thankfully, we got some rain too! My grass may yet turn green and my flowers may bloom again!

I don’t think there’s any hope for the grass here any more.

It has been a 100+ degrees here for a long time, no rain for what seems to be forever (I would love it if it would rain.) Looks like next week the temperature is finally dropping and the fall weather will be rolling in. I can’t wait; the fall season is my favorite.

At least our temps have only been in the 70’s. I can’t imagine that hot without rain. I like fall as well.

We started out with a slew of rain and it has been dry for about 1.5 weeks now. More rain is in the forecast and I will be happy to have it. After 3 years of drought, I’ll take it.
Amazing picture – love how you caught the rain falling.

I always like to get out and weed after a good soaking rain!

Sunday and then today we finally got some rain. It was odd after having such a wet, cool spring and summer to go through the dry spell that we did. I’m hoping it’s slowed the spread of late blight a bit!

Hot, hot, hot. California is having it’s annual Indian Summer. Today in San Francisco where my daughter attends school hit the high 70’s and could go as high as the 80’s or 90’s before the day ends [that’s extremely hot for S.F.] and my other daughter is at Disneyland in Anaheim where the temp. is 90 and climbing.

First day of Autumn and it is in the 90’s…quite unusual for the Pacific Northwest. I must say I do love the hot weather and am not looking forward to the loooong wet days of winter here. Kim

Really wet here! Tons of rain, even right now as I write. Only one day were the beds flooded, but it’s come close to too much rain a couple times.
