Whoohoo! Congratulations to Mr. C. I love having venison and other wild game in the freezer. In fact, it is elk stew for us tonight.

>exciting going on

Yah, a red-tail has muscled aside the red-shouldered hawks and instead of just ogling the chickens, took one, so we are "taking measures" to defend them.

Wonderful! How exciting! I think we have come to an agreement here. If and I truly mean if hubby ever gets a buck we will use the antlers to make buttons... and various sundry items! He is more interested in the hide so no mounted heads here. :)

I was craving venison for a lot of this last pregnacy, I feel blessed to have friends who hunt and were willing to share. I love a Winter vegetable stew with venison more then anything this time of year. Congrats on Mr Chiot's first deer! Hmm, anything exciting... I gave birth to my daughter on Sunday night, does that count? :-D

Congrats on the first deer! I've never been hunting. Seems strange here in TN where everyone seems to hunt. I've only eaten venison once and don't remember much about it!

It was actually a big doe. He keeps threatening to have the entire head mounted if he gets a buck. I can only imagine what this would look like in our tiny house.

My husband has still not found the time to go hunting yet. I have both positive and negative feelings about this. On the one hand, I would like to have our yearly venison in the freezer. On the other hand, I wouldn't particularly mind giving the butchering a miss this year.

Congratulations to Mr. C.! I hope it was a nice big buck so he can mount the antlers somewhere appropriately tacky.
