Quote of the Day: John Calvin
There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world, that is not intended to make us rejoice.
John Calvin
I’m very thankful for the changing seasons. I enjoy living in a place with such a stark difference between spring/summer/fall/winter. It seems the long dark colorless winter, makes me even more thankful for color in the garden, especially all the green leaves and the green grass.
The green is so invigorating, I’m happy looking out the windows and seeing world of green. I’m happy to once again to hear leaves on the trees when the wind blows. I’m happy to see color dotting the garden here and there.
What’s your favorite part of the change from winter to summer?

It’s the green. Green is my favourite colour and it’s my favourite thing about living where we do with the trees all around and nothing else in sight but green. I love green. It’s my name. It’s my eyes. It’s wonderful.
A close second to that is the wind. Winter wind is biting and gusty. Spring wind is gusty and gentle and caressing and blow-you-down. Spring wind smells delicious. Spring wind makes the trees dance.

I have a love/hate with the longer days. I love them because I have so much more time to be out in the garden or barbecuing. The hate is the heat and longing for shorter days that mean hibernation.
Perhaps I need mental help. I’ll just go pull some weeds and sort this out.

The changing of the smells! From the smell of snow to the smell of melting snow to the smell of spring flowers and fresh cut grass. It’s amazing how we can smell the changing seasons. Well at least I believe I can…

The daydreaming of planting a beautiful garden, which usually is never as beautiful as I’d like it to be… but that beginning of Spring is so hopeful for it! I love the Calvin quote, and am glad to see it preceding your lovely photography!

Warmth and sun light!!! Until I moved to the mountains, I didn’t appreciate these two things nearly enough!

Hi,
Right now in Alaska, the leaves are just starting to come out. Green up time is the most exciting time for me as our world is transformed from brown to green, sometimes it seems like overnight. We are almost there.

What an amazing array of images: it really fills me with wonder to think about all the gorgeous plants that exist! I love to walk out my front door in the spring and see something new coming into existence each day!
