Too Busy to Work in the Garden
I’ve been pretty busy lately with office work. Sadly, that means I’ve been spending a lot of time indoors working on my computer so I haven’t been doing a ton of exciting things in the garden. At least I can enjoy the gardens during my work day since I work from home.
Sometimes it’s nice to look at the gardens from inside, it’s a different point of view than I’m used to. I have a small garden outside the office window that got an oakleaf hydrangea that’s about to bloom a few lovely hostas and some astilbes. It’s quite lovely when viewed from the inside.
Do you ever enjoy your gardens from indoors?

Only if the weather doesnt co-operate. I would rather be in the dirt than looking at it. But, I know, sometimes LIFE gets in the way of FUN.
Geez.. I sound like my mother… when did that happen???

I have lupus and I can’t be out in my garden when it’s too sunny, so I am always enjoying the view from inside. I’m one of those people that keeps drapes and blinds wide opened. I can’t walk through a room without pausing to admire my flowers, the birdies, and to make sure the cats aren’t bothering the birdies.

Constantly. Our vegetable garden is right next to our house, right outside the living room windows so we watch it constantly. It’s the window we glance out when we go up the stairs. the windows we check to see how fast the rain is falling. The windows we seek when we’re stressed.

Absolutely!! Especially since it’s been raining like Seattle this entire spring! I fear I’ll never get the rest of the garden in for fear of the seeds just rotting!

I love watching the rain. We had a lot of rain yesterday and it was nice.

I think that’s one important thing people tend to overlook – the inside view. The look at how the garden appears outside but forget that they’ll be spending time indoors too and can enjoy it from that perspective. I’m working on fixing that here!

My studio window is blocked mostly by a large and unattractive Eliagnus bush (at least it adds some privacy when changing into my gym outfit!). But i can also see the raised bed which this year has several peppers, and i can see to the top of the yard where i have tomatoes growing this year. I enjoy watching the serrano recuperate from its initial problems and is no flourishing and covered with baby peppers. I’ve found several attacks of hornworms by staring out my window. I also have a bird feeder out here and lately have been seeing some fledgling blue jays up on the crepe myrtle.

When it’s too hot (hot is now), I peek out from my air conditioned comfort and feel sad for my toasted garden. My chant is this:
“It’s amost October. It’s almost October.”
October is the month when the promise of cooler weather teases me with a few days of relief.

Looking out the window while the morning chaos is going on with dressing/feeding and prepping two kids for school is such a mental break for me. That and a cup of coffee :) Seeing my garden (especially this time of year) makes everything calm and centered for me.

Most definitely! My view of the garden from inside isn’t all that different than yours with the cats joining in. Although, i think my cats are watching the garden for a completely different reason.
