Quote of the Day: L.M. Montgomery
I wonder what it would be like to live in a world
where it was always June.
-L.M. Montgomery
I love all the flowers that start showing up in June, hydrangeas being my favorites. In the next week, most of my hydrangeas will be in full bloom. I can hardly wait!
What do you love about June?

Usually I love the nice warm weather, no humidty, and being able to work in the garden… this year we are having a LOT of rain and high temperatures, which equals VERY high humidity which in turn equals no working in the garden. So this year, my favorite thing about June is working in the a/c to can strawberry preserves.

We’ve had a very hot and humid June this year as well, more of our usually July/Aug weather.

Coming from Downunder – not a lot, except for the Winter Solstice! Once that arrives the days will gradually start to lengthen even though we’ve not yet hit the coldest part of the year. Longer days = summer’s coming to me. Odd I know :-).

I love having a garden again and being able to go outside barefoot.

June means my little boy’s birthday but it also means ripe cherries on the tree and still enough time to get the hot season crops in the ground. And best of all, school is out and my kids and I get to stay home together.

Ripe cherries is right. We picked some yesterday.

Eating raspberries by the handful…..and fresh raw peas……fried green tomatoes…..and lovely bouquets fresh for the picking right outside my doors…..butterfly bushes covered in butterflies……jars full of lightening bugs…….and my ducks and children taking a shower together in our outdoor shower :) What’s not to like about June…..

I can’t wait for my hydrangeas either. They are all just starting to bloom right now. I check them everyday to see their progress. I’m just giddy waiting for them!

the food. that is all. it is absolutely ungodly unbearably hot and humid here (I spent 3 hours out in 100 degree weather Saturday) and I want some freaking WINTER ALREADY.
Summer makes me cranky.

I love peonies in June here in Ontario.
And I love that you just quoted LM Montgomery! I grew up with my mom reading me her books, and then moved on to reading them myself as I got older. Not to mention that my mom named me after a character in one of LMM’s books!
Just discovered your blog via Simple, Green, Frugal and am finding lots of inspiration. Thanks!

The quote you chose for this post was also on a blackboard outside our local gourmet shop today! I love it!
I love the sun that never sets and the feeling that there is just MORE time in each day. I love crawling into bed with girls that smell like the outdoors (because it got to late to worry about baths).
I love tomatoes on the vine and the promise they hold. And I also love the promise of all the long hot days of summer to come!
My hydrangeas, a bit different than those people most people know, are in full bloom – extravagant! See them by clicking my name!
