Christmas Cards

December 13th, 2010

We received our Christmas card order last week, they’re so lovely, probably the best ones we’ve done so far. I am quite happy with them, and I’m super excited to send them out.

I set to work addressing all the cards, it’s always fun to go through the Christmas list and think about all the people on there and what they’ve been up to this year. Our list is long, but not too long. It’s filled with family members and friends – some old, some new – clients, professional friends and a few random people we’ve met throughout our lives. Some of them we don’t talk to much anymore, others we speak to several times a week. One thing keeps them all on the list, we appreciate the part they have played in our lives past or present.

I really enjoy getting cards in my mailbox from friends and family. I love seeing photos of my college girlfriend’s kids, seeing how much they’ve grown each year. I love reading Christmas letters from friends I don’t talk to near enough, hearing about the year they’ve had. Christmas cards really are a way to connect with those in our lives that we don’t want to lose touch with.

After checking everyone off of my Christmas list I ended up with a lot of extra cards. Since I had them printed and I don’t want any of these fabulous cards to go to waste, I thought I’d send them out to some of my readers. You always make my day when you read and comment on my blog, so you should be on my Christmas list. If you would like to receive one of our Christmas cards, send me your address via the contact link to the right. I’ll keep sending them out until I run out (then you might get one of last year’s of which I still have hundreds in a box).

Do you enjoy getting Christmas cards in your mailbox?

Good morning! Your cards are wonderful this year! I just found your corner of the internet and am truly enjoying it.

One question about today’s post – where did you have your cards printed? I usually use White House Custom Color but I haven’t been happy with the weight of the paper for their press printed cards. I love them though and wish they had thicker paper. Did you use a local printer or someone online?

    Thanks!

I had them printed at Got Print their service was quick and the on-line ordering & uploading, proofing etc was super easy. I found that their paper is quick thick and substantial. Last year we used the 100pt recycled and it was a little flimsier than the 14pt glossy we chose for this year’s card. Send me your address via the contact link to the right and I’ll mail one off to you so you can see what it’s like.

I was waiting to see which photo you used! Those are GORGEOUS!
Especially love the custom envelope too… gosh, you are so great at things like this! I wanted to do a Christmas card this year – but alas time has gotten away from me.
And your card from last year – PERFECTION! I love how Dexter is a bulkier cat! hehe~ ♥

Just a postcard, no envelopes involved.

We too love that Dexter is a chunky cat, we’re partial to big cats!

Yes, absolutely! I love receiving and decorating the house with the faces of family, friends and – in a lot of cases – their pets! We have never done postcards, but these are certainly inspiring.

These are spectacular! Nicely done, Susy! If it weren’t for Christmas cards, we would have virtually no contact with some of our friends just because we live across the country from them and life gets so busy. Christmas cards and photos of families definitely keeps us connected. To display my collection each year I took some fencing material and had my husband make a frame around it and then I use clothespins to hang them on the wire. I should have a post up on it soon for anyone who wants to see it.

Gorgeous Photography! I do love getting cards and they rarely appear anymore but I won’t impose on you this year as I am in Canada. :-) As I said before you should market your cards, you have a wonderful sense of image and composition.

    Merry Christmas

    Janet

Just beautiful. One year I captured a very amateur photo of my orange cat playing with a tangle of christmas lights (plugged in) on the oriental carpet. It ended up being our favorite (and the only photo card we ever sent).I betting get moving on my cards, I just started.
