Quote of the Day: Maria Augusta Trapp
Now it was November,
and the trees had shed their last golden tear;
the weather was often rough.
Maria Augusta Trapp The Story of the Trapp Family Singers
All the leaves are gone from the trees now and things are getting stark. The weather is shifting from fall to winter; the days are no longer warm and golden as the fierce winds blow away the remaining bits of fall.
One of the things I appreciate about the trees being without leaves is that we can see the sunsets in all their beauty. From mid-November through March we notice the sunset each evening and are often captivated by how beautiful it is. I suppose it’s this nice all year long, we just can’t see it because of the trees that block it from our view.
What time of the year do you notice sunsets the most?

I notice the sky most in the spring, when the clouds are big and dramatic.

Summer. Our house faces west and a huge hill.In the Summer I am usually trying to eke out all the time outdoors I can.So,I notice the sun going over the hill more then.But to tell the truth,most times I am too preoccupied to pay attention….something I need to change! Darlene

I tend to notice the summer sunset more than any other. Especially if Im driving down Lakeshore, which I often am during the summer. I just have to stop occasionally to take in its magnificent view.
Not sure why the summer time sunsets are more dramatic here, but they are. I’ll also run grab my camera & hit the shoreline to get a few amazing pictures in… They are magnificent!

I don’t think that I favor one season over any other for noticing sunsets; but I do love the angle of the setting sun in the fall.

We notice sunsets most whenever we are along the ocean, particularly in summer. We live in a valley which is nearly always covered with cloud, so sunsets (and vivid sunrises) are few and far between. Whenever we have a chance to walk along the ocean (on vacation or a trip to the city) we make a point to do so around sunset where the clouds aren’t caught in our mountains obscuring the setting of the sun. It really is one of my favourite moments in a day.

We don’t get sunsets as we have hill to our west (keeps the hot winds away), so for me sunrise is my favourite time of day. At this time of year (our spring), they are stunning!

Summer is sunset time for me. It means it will get cooler after the day’s heat.
Do you really get a sunset in the evening in the winter? It is dark by 4:15 here now so sunset is like 3:30.
