A Year Ago Today…

January 21st, 2012

A year ago today I had tiny little onions in the basement seed starting area, this year I have nothing started yet. Celery seeds had also been started, none of those have been planted either this year.

Outside, it was a beautiful sunny day, I spotted a bluebird at my heated birdbath for the first time of the season.

On my blog I was talking about my love of flannel sheets since I has just gotten a new set.

This is one of the reasons I blog, it encourages me to take photos and keep a record of my life. I enjoy looking back every now and then to see what I was doing on this day a year ago.

Have you ever kept a journal, or do you keep one now?

I do keep a journal and sometimes I don’t post for months and it amazes me when I go back and read it.

Love the bluebird pic. Aren’t they beautiful? My personal fav. I love reading your posts and your photography is outstanding.

Love that sprout picture! You are an ambitious gardener, for sure! ;0)
I have kept journals for years. I keep a daily intention journal and a monthly journal for myself and one for my sweet boy. Writing is healing…

Love that adorable bluebird shot! No I don’t keep a regular journal ( in the summer I keep gardening notes), but I have come across old yearly planners and I really enjoyed seeing how I had spent my days-doing things I had totally forgotten about. I should start one as I can definitely see the value in it. I do archive all of my e-mails from my daughters. I thought it would be fun to print them out and organize them some day. They are great letter writers and that is how we do a good deal of our communicating (they are young adults and live out of state ). Thanks for the continuing inspiration. I shared the 365 project idea with my husband (just got him a Cannon Rebel for Christmas) and he is excited about trying that.

I kept a journal during my late teens and early 20’s. It’s amazing, the things that seemed so traumatic back then I barley remember today. Proving.. “this to shall pass”.

I keep garden notes now. In the process of planning this springs plantings I found my notes from last year. The notes contain valuable information which will make this season much better than last. I will keep much better notes this year!

…As a child I used to keep journals but I don’t have ’em anymore. I now keep a Gratitude Journal where I write down at least 5 things I am grateful for on that day. It helps me to keep things in perspective. :o)

…I too love the photo of the bluebird and the one of the lil’ sprout. Both hold so much inspiration, don’t they?

…Have a wonderful Saturday you two!

    …Peace & Blessings :o)

I’ve had journals thru almost all of my life.. The last 8 I think I was writing online in a private forum that was shared with others who also payed for this premium space, so it was much like blogging, but not open to the whole world.

I started a blog last spring, I think, but life got way too busy/crazy and I let it go by the way side. I imagine I’ll pick it back up one of these days..
    again..

I too, love looking back & reading what I wrote and what was going on at another time of life..

I started to blog just last January so as to be able to keep a journal that was easy to mix text and pictures. It is fun now to be able to go back and look at the bounty of the summer or what was happening a year ago. Maybe I will take a quick peek at blogs of last March, to see spring about to burst forth. That will prove to me that it will happen again.

Thanks for the heads up about the milkshakes at Hartzler’s Dairy. I’m definitely going to try one the next time we are in OH!

I received a pink Hello Kitty diary as a birthday present when I turned 12 (20 years ago next month) and have been a journal keeper ever since. Seriously, though, the entries entries form my earliest journals are often so ridiculous that I’m embarrassed I ever had those thoughts and feelings. But I think it’ll give me some good perspective for when my kids become teenagers.

I’m very much a shy introvert and journaling has been very therapeutic for me over the years. And I don’t have a very good memory so it’s been a blessing to have so much recorded so I can look back on things later. Now I keep a journal through blogger (private obviously) because it’s so much easier to include pictures. I figure I’ll print it out every few years into books do I can add them to my shelf of journals. Although honestly, I don’t want my kids or husband or anyone to read them until I’ve died- I’m more of a drama queen in them than I am in real life and I’d be embarrassed.
