Friday Favorite: The NEW Bathroom

June 15th, 2012

The bathroom is officially finished, checked off the list and it’s a GREAT feeling. So much better than the old one, it certainly looks like it fits in with the rest of the house now, it was one of the last remnants of the original house we purchased 10 years ago.

The old torn yellowed vinyl flooring *gone* replaced by 1″ marble hex tiles with light gray grout. New moulding inspired by bathrooms of old, made by Mr Chiots.

The old sad cabinet & stained sink *gone* replaced with a black cabinet that ties in with the black cabinets in the kitchen and a nice big sink that we LOVE (we have the same one in our other bathroom and really like it).

The bright green walls *a distant memory* now painted a light blue, very peaceful and much brighter. A few cherry blossom towels, a much needed new bath mat and an old road sign for the finishing touches.

I found this great little handmade salt pig at Local Roots Market that now houses our clay facial scrub from Mt Rose Herbs. Yes, Mr Chiots used an old-fashioned Classic Safety Razor and LOVES it (highly recommended as a gift idea for that special guy in your life). We love our new bathroom and are so happy with the outcome, we’ve been wanting to do this project since we moved in.

If you could redo one room in your house which one would it be?

Looks great! Love the floor you picked. Have to laugh though…I put the same sink in our upstairs bath when we built our house! The base didn’t come in black then so I painted it!! The black came out a few years later..figures!! Great job!! Cant wait to see what you are doing upstairs with that fab tub…..

That’s funny, we have the same sink in our other bathroom off the mast bedroom and we LOVE the size and shape, both of us can use it when brushing teeth since it’s so big. We like the cabinet in our main bathroom better, but this one’s not too bad either.

That looks great. Love the marble hex tiles. We have hex tiiles in our bathroom that my husband made a flower pattern out of. If he had seen marble tiles,he would have picked those. Where’s the clawfoot tub?

The clawfoot tub goes in the new upstairs bathroom (which is just stud wall right now).

That looks amazing! Great job! We have been in re-do mode for a while now on our house, not because it was wanted (although it was) but because it was necessary (we found mold). So the one room that I still would like to redo would be the master bath. I would love a big bathtub in there. Ahhh. :)
Anyways, great job! The sign made me giggle. haha

Looks wonderful! It looks so much more modern, but with an old-fashioned feel. Where did you find all the fixtures?

Looks beautiful. We are hoping to redo one of our baths this fall! That sink is a good idea- we have a spot that would really benefit from two sinks but not enough room, maybe the one big one would work!

    Fantastic!
All of the rooms in my house are on the “next to finish”, sadly. But there have been visits to Ikea to get things!
Picked up a Molger set [tall rack and a bench in light brown] for our bathroom corner and it really holds a lot! Now I can keep the toilet tissue hidden behind stacks of folded towels! Heheh!
Ikea is a wonderful place for smartly sized decent looking modern housewares. I have yet to find a decent sink, but THAT one looks wonderful!
Oof, I can’t get over how gorgeous your bathroom is now. Love it! ♥

If I could redo one room it would be the guest bathroom ~ the floor is green malachite and sooooooooo very outdated/ugly! You both did an awesome job. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great looking, love the floor tiles.
I use a safety razor also, which irritates the heck out of my husband (possibly due to the copious blood loss which occasionally happens).

    love the bathroom!
My hubby also uses a safety razor and old fashioned having brush. he gets a much better shave that way! (too bad blades are difficult to find unless you order them online.)

    Great job!! It looks fantastic!

We’ve been redoing since I moved into this house 14 years ago.
Some of our redos need to be redone since they werent done correctly the first time (grrr.. cracking tile in the kitchen) but other that, I am chomping at the bits to get my craft room done. I was working on the adjoining workout room a year ago & my daughter decided she needed to move back home, so all that got put on hold.
Shes moved out again, so I need to get back to it.

I love your new tile and base boards. Isn’t it great to get a project done! But then, it’s also a shame to get it done right before leaving. Will you stay long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor?

Yes, we’ll be here for a while yet and no doubt the future owners will really enjoy it!
