I Have Chickens

June 27th, 2012

After wanting chickens for years, I finally have some. Yesterday, I bought some chickens; a whole flock of them, ten hens and a lovely rooster.

They’re a cross between Rhode Island Red and Rhode Island White. According to their current owners, they’re great layers.

Oh Yeah,
they also came with a lovely coop,
a house, a sauna,
and 150 acres

in MAINE.
More about that tomorrow…

You are too funny, the whole time I was reading this I was thinking that you said you couldn’t have chickens where you live until I got to the end!

Wow!! Im so jealous.. except for the thought of the winters there & the short growing season.. but heck.. with 150 acres, you have enough land you can build all sorts of hoop houses..

Congratulations on your chickens, coop, sauna, house, & acreage. :)

Cant wait to hear all about it.. I must live vicariously thru you. ;)

Congratulations! You blog has resonated with me so much, I can’t even describe it. From your mention of being introverted, to your choices and outlook on life and living, I have felt you were a kindred spirit. We moved to New Hampshire last year. Maine or Vermont would have been my first choice. What a wonderful adventure you will embark on! I’m excited for you. I have found such peace here in the woods… peace and adventure! We had two baby bear cubs in our yard yesterday;0)

That is so exciting! On both the chickens and the move to Maine! I am actually just about to be relocating as well. We decided last week, that we’ll be relocating to the Philadelphia area within two weeks from now. We hope to be able to have chickens there as well, as we are not allowed to here unless we pass them off as dogs as you had suggested a few years back.
