SOLD!
You may remember that we put our home in Ohio up for sale at the end of August. We’ve had lots of people walking through it and had great feedback. About a month ago we had our first offer, which we didn’t accept because it was too low. Last Friday we received an offer, we countered, and the people accepted.
We spent the weekend working out the details and signing and initialing contracts. Everything has been signed and we’re on the road to closing. We even sold our additional lot along with the house, which was a huge bonus!
We’re optimistic that everything will work out and we’ll be closing at the beginning of December. If so, it will certainly be nice to finally be able to close out that chapter of our lives and feel like we’re 100% here!
How many different houses have you lived in?

You are really doing it! Felicitations!
I love the fact that you did make the move, even though you had to go back on the mortgage treadmill for a while, with a clear exit plan, however.
How quickly you sold the house! No wonder, you made such a nice nest of it.
Sometimes, you have to bend some, to get to the other side…
I am looking for a piece of land that will offer a small ‘whole world’… Like our 2 acres, but much larger: it has to have meadows, sustainably harvestable hardwoods, a view, good soil, plus a stream or a pond, and room for horses, if our daughter ever had/wanted to live with us for a while after vet school.
However, we want to stay in the same area, probably because we are 20 years older than you, and made more detours than you two on the way to independence!
The friends we have here are precious, and we will some day find the right spot.
Any ‘lapins’ or ‘lapereaux’ yet?

Thats great news, hope there are no hiccups and the sale goes through quickly :)
I have only lived in 4 places, an apartment in Japan, my childhood home, 15 mths as a pub landlady (didnt enjoy that pit stop) & 20yrs+ here on my farm (love having no close neighbours)

Congrats. Counting my parents house I am in my 7th and hoping my last house. Retired now but have lived in 3 different states and have enjoyed settling back down to the farm. We do wish we had done it when we were your age though because the work involved can be daunting to a couple of old people : )

It should help keep you young though – at least that’s what I hear!

I knew it!!! I had a feeling yesterday when I was listening to the latest podcast that you had sold your house! The plan is comin’ together!
I hope we are as fortunate when we put our house up on the market.

Congrats! Hope the new owners like to garden! I have to admit that I think it would be pretty cool to have a blog about the gardens of a house I just bought– would really love to know the history of the plantings around my house (sometimes I wonder what they were thinking!) Hope the closing goes smoothly!

Besides my childhood home I’ve lived in a rented apt. for 6 mos., a rented house for 6 mos, a purchased home for 25 years and this purchased home for 15.5 years. I don’t plan to move again.
Congratulations on your relatively quick sale. The economy is slowly gaining and slow may be a very good thing.

Congrats. I have lived in 10 places the longest in this last place, 17-1/2 yrs. almost in 51 yrs. Would like all the one lady described, woods, stream, etc. but will never get to that so at our ages, 56 and 51, will have to make the best of it. Would need to do too much to the house to sell it including septic system and just can’t do it. After this many eyars I’m not really interested in moving as hubby has accumulated so much it’s beyond belief. We might need it in the next 100 yrs. so we can’t toss it. ;(

11 counting this one (and we’ve lived here for 24 years). We’re looking to relocate to Montana in the next two years, and find our forever home.

lol… including a few in & outs… I’ve lived in 19 different places.. Gads! The longest I’ve been in one place is here in Ohio where I’ve been in my current home for 14 years. No wonder I get the itch to move every so often. ;) I guess that also explains why I deal so well with change. haha.. Funny, I never really thought about how much I’ve moved in my life.
Congrats on selling your home!! I know thats such a wonderful feeling and a relief. Wishing you all, sellers & buyers, wonderful blessings always!

Congratulations! Maybe not a “quick” sale but certainly timely.
Let’s see…4 childhood homes and 23 (egad!) in the 40 years since college. But 6 of those 23 were boomerang moves (San Joaquin Valley to Silicon Valley and back. Three times). We bought and moved to for good my in-laws’ little family farm 6 years ago and have no plans to move again.
Best wishes to your buyers for as much joy in the Ohio property as you found, and to you in your new digs in Maine.

Congrats! I have lived in 3 homes, one when I was quite small and don’t remember, my childhood home for 18 years, and my present home for 32 years. I really don’t have any sentimental attachment to my childhood home, but the home my husband and I share is truely my “happy place”. Many (mostly) happy memories of our children growing up and the many accomplishments through the years. It has been a labor of love to take this old place (it was once a one room schoolhouse) and make it into the cozy home and haven that it is now.
Never mind that my husband calls it a money pit!

Congratulations, and congratulations to the buyers too. They are getting a property that was so lovingly improved by your hard work.
I’ve lived in 21 different places: 9 houses, 10 apartments, 2 dorms. You better believe me when I say I hate moving. I’ve done my share.

Congratulations! I’m planning a move too, so I’m well aware of how un-fun that limbo is. Good luck in your new Maine homestead!

5 homes before I moved out into my own place, and I’m on the 9th since then. We’ve just moved in this summer and are in love with this home/place. We plan to grow old here.

Congratulations! It’ll be such a relief when that sale is all said and done with. I’ve lived in countless places. Dorm rooms and apartments and then rental house after rental house. They all fall into the background since I’ve settled into my dream-home-for-life. I’ve been here 3 years and plan to be here the next 30.

TMTC (microbiologese for too many to count)!! I have moved 7 times in the last 8 years and am happy to be staying put this year. It makes putting in a garden a real difficulty. Other than the last 8 years, I think at least 8 houses before I left home (academics with sabbaticals). 7 apartments while in college and after (dorms don’t count as houses). And 6 more. I might be missing some. . .
I now live in a rental that is in a previous lumber town (company town) with houses from the turn of the century. I lived away from neighbors for a while so it’s taking some getting used to, but the houses are cool and we are allowed to have pets and gardens. So of course I have both.
