Hello Snow

December 18th, 2012

The night before last snow started falling from the sky. There was an inch or two on the ground when we went to sleep and we woke up to four. It continued snowing throughout the day until we had about 6 inches of the lovely white stuff. Lucky for us, with our LONG driveway, we got this old red truck with the property. Mr Chiots went out in the morning to plow the drive. I’m thinking this truck should be featured in our Christmas card next year!

I must admit, Mr Chiots and I LOVE the snow. We enjoy hiking in it and being outdoors in wintry weather. For Christmas this year, we got each other snowshoes and now it looks as if we’ll be able to put them to good use!

Any snow in your garden yet (that is if you’re in the snow areas)?

I agree, that truck would make a fabulous holiday card!
I haven’t had any experience with snow as an adult, so I can’t say how I’d feel about having it around. Not much chance of snow in this garden! ;0)
    Enjoy the wintry weather!

We were supposed to get snow Sunday night in Mass., but instead got ice. Last night it rained and is still raining Tuesday morning. I was looking forward to some snow…hopefully for Christmas. That truck is wonderful! Yes, it would be great for a Christmas card. I can picture it all decked out with lights, and of course a wreath on the grill. Actually the two of you in the front seat waving would be cute too.

That’s what we were thinking too. Perhaps if we get another big snowstorm we can get our pictures taken this winter and be way ahead for next Christmas!

It looks so pretty, like a fairytale. We are in Australia so don’t get snow, it’s summer here and 32 degrees celsius tomorrow! XxBrenda

    Love the truck!

We have icy, crusty, slippery snow now. It’s 32* this morning, no signs of snow yet today but I’m hoping. I’d like enough to cover the slippery snow and make it beautiful outdoors again. And of course, enough to don the snowshoes for a Christmas walk.

No measurable snow yet. I think it rained here while it snowed Maine. I’m ready for some, although it has been pretty nice hiking weather with moss and ferns everywhere still. We also love hiking in the snow, but I’m sure it will be here soon enough.Snow does make everything look so magical. Beautiful pictures,

I love the truck! It would make a great Christmas card!

I’m completely jealous of your snow! We have nothing but mud here and I’m so sick of it! Not to mention the warm weather that comes with it. My poor horses can’t go outside and my older mare is sweating with her thick winter coat in. Luckily, it’s supposed to break on Friday and we might even get a white Christmas. :)

That truck is the best and yes, next year’s card should feature it.
Here on the Island, we got a little snow and then it warmed up. Today it is pouring rain. Such is life when you’re surrounded by ocean water that is way warmer than it should be.

Winter Storm Watches are just posting for us this morning here in Central Nebraska. We have not had any moisture here since the summer.
For the ground and crop’s sake, we need this very badly. So I am going out this morning to get just a very few pantry staples and milk and I’m set to go for whatever comes. Shovels at the ready too.
Don’t really like to play in it though…that’s for you youngsters to enjoy!! :^)
Have a very wonderful Holiday season

Just love the old truck. I’ll bet Mr. C loves it too…most men love their boy toys…
I am a pickup truck girl anyway, so trucks are in my heart.

I think I could only enjoy snow in a setting such as yours, somewhere that I come with the frame of mind that snow is what I get for a certain period of the year.

    Love that truck!

At first, I thought we were headed for a “brown” Christmas. Here in Milwaukee, the lake effect either means we get WAY more snow than the rest of the state or way less. So far, it’s been way less :(. Apparently, it looks like there’s a storm heading our way this Thursday, and if the temps stay low we might get some inches before Christmas!

And can I just say, that red truck is my dream truck! Love it.

The truck is a definitely candidate for next year’s Christmas card or possibly even the December photo in a calendar… No snow this season in northern central Indiana so far. In fact it looks like we won’t even be below 40 between now and Christmas. Yes our WhOLE household LOVES snow!! We lived in Alaska for almost 5 years…. the snow was great but the sub zero temps were a bit much (-45 is really cold, and -69 more so…. brrrr makes me cold just thinking about it! ha ha!)

Have a wonderful time with the snow!!

We don’t usually get snow until February or March and we haven’t seen any yet. There’s a chance for Christmas or immediately after so I am hoping for that. I am eager to see some of the white stuff this year since we didn’t get any last year.

I admit, I am completely jealous of all that snow (and my hubby would be jealous of the plow truck as he just uses the tractor to plow our driveway, most of the neighbors’ driveways, and the hardware store and bowling alley parking lots)! It’s been raining and dreary here. I am afraid we won’t have a white Christmas and that always makes me sad. I love snow and can’t wait until we finally get a decent snowfall here! I am really looking forward to taking my almost 2 year old son out to play in it – it’s going to be a blast!

That looks like an old Jeep Gladiator, I drove on in highschool (hand me down from the Grandparents). I was an awsome truck! Good luck with the snow, we (the Seattle area) just had our first dusting of lowland snow, let the chaos begin!

We had 6 lovely inches of snow, then last Saturday it rained. We need the moisture and our ground is still not frozen, but now it looks like March. More is predicted for later this week — I hope we get it. Love the truck!

We don’t usually get much snow out here in western WA, but we had a little start falling yesterday and then a bit more today. Just enough to stick on the ground. More than an inch or two usually causes most things to close down (except work, of course). But as a transplant from the mid-west, I love it anyway. I’m probably one of the few people around who hopes it stays through Christmas!

No snow here yet.. I do hope we have a white Christmas though.. I spent my youth in the subtropics and I still get excited as I did when I was a kid to see the white fluffy stuff coming down. :)

I love farm trucks and yours is super cute! It would make a perfect picture for a card. The snow is gently falling here on the Alberta prairie. Such a calm comes over the barnyard when the snow falls. I always love barn chores in the snow but not always the freezin’ temperatures and the north wind that comes along with it. Have a blessed Christmas!

    Now that truck has character!

I’ve had snow twice in November this year – odd for this area – and some more is predicted for Friday. In this location, we often get rain or rain to snow events in the winter, but nor’easters like to leave quite a bit of white stuff in their wake.

I’d send a photo if I knew how to attach it. Don’t see that there is a way. We got snow the same night and day as you. We’re in Oregon. It’s not unusual for us to go snowless all year some years in our mild valley. I snapped a photo of my husband gazing out on the back yard and garden, where he’d planned to be out transplanting some camelias. The news forecast was for showers, but our showers came down white, and most of it remains on the ground today. Love it!!
