Food from a Truck?
Yesterday, Mr Chiots and I had to run a bunch of errands. While out and about, we decided to stop at a food truck for lunch. Generally, this wouldn’t be something we would do, in fact I’ve never purchased food from a food truck before. This one is different, Good ‘n’ You in Belfast has homemade food with many ingredients sourced from local farms.
Mr Chiots ordered a burrito and I got a Maine shrimp taco, we split an order of jalapeño poppers as well. We grabbed our food and headed down to the shore and chatted while we watched a few boats and tourists walking around.
With Dailon back in Ohio for a few weeks and all of our guests gone, it’s really nice to be able to spend some time together. Next week, we’ll celebrate our 15 year anniversary. It’s certainly hard to believe that it’s been that long, yet hard to imagine a time when we weren’t together. We’re not big on celebrating events like this, yesterday was probably as much celebrating as we’ll do.
Have you ever purchased food from a food truck?

No, I haven’t but there are several in the town where I work.

My husband started a twitter account just to follow the food trucks in Providence. He says they have better food than any restaurant in town. I haven’t eaten from one yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it!

I haven’t recently but I will search out the Good N You the next time I’m in Belfast. I usually grab something at the COOP or Bay Wraps but the truck sounds great.

It’s located in the public parking lot back behind Rollie’s.

We used to have the food trucks come to some of the construction sites I worked on but they were not exactly like the type of trucks that are popular now..lol!! I didn’t buy anything from them! However, Birmingham has a number of really good food trucks now and I have been hoping to catch one when I’m in town for pottery deliveries.

Yes. I most definitely do!
To me, food trucks are the ideal food when travelling. It’s usually a local business, or just entrepreuer’s seeking out a slice of the good life – being able to travel and make delicious food.
In all honesty, I sort of have a dream to open up a food truck… something that combines my love of easy to cook meals and asian cuisine [primarily Indian and Korean, their flavor profiles mesh so well together… I have some interesting recipes.]
Also, NYC has the best food trucks. ♥

Sure!! In the south, they’re everywhere..
When I was about 8-12 my dad and a couple of his buddies went in together & bought or leased a food truck & trailer that we sold bbq pork sandwiches & beer out of on the beach (South Padre Island) during Spring Break one year.. All of us kids “got” to help out and worked right along with our parents. It was fun and we got to eat all the bbq we wanted, hang out on the beach when we wanted & even drink a few beer too when Mom wasnt looking. ;)
Someone mentioned construction/factory food trucks better known as Roach Coaches.. and I’ve eaten from a few of them too. Used to work at a factory where they came.. The stuff wasnt bad.. Some were better than others.
Also used to eat from a lot of Mexican food trucks.. They’d have all sorts of tacos, tamales, fried burritos, beans, rice & the like.. big ol fat jalapenos too. Yum!! They had the BEST food! They had beer too if you wanted it.
I guess thats why I like beer with my food.. I dont really drink it otherwise, but I do enjoy chowing down on good grub & having a cerveza with it.

The first thing I do when I visit somewhere new is find the food trucks. Amazing food and you get to sample so much more. A lot of it is locally sourced as well.

When I am in NYC, I like to visit food trucks. I also hired the “big green pizza truck” for a a party this summer. They make wood- fired pizza in a retrofitted antique truck. It seemed easier than getting it catered and it is a very informal affair.

“Roach coaches” are HUGE here in California. Yes. I have made a purchase or two.

I’ve never purchased but a friend of mine had an Indian Fusion food truck at her outdoor wedding. It was a fun and delicious way (and I imagine cheaper) to cater a wedding.
