Cultivate Simple 36: MicroBusiness
First of all we want to apologize for the audio quality. We recorded this while traveling back from Ohio to Maine.
A couple weeks ago we discussed tips for starting a small business. On this week’s episode we discuss micro businesses in depth.
What micro business would you like to start?

I love your podcasts! They are so engaging and honest. It’s always funny to me that just after I start thinking about something (trying to buy better quality, starting a small business…) you guys have a podcast about it.
I am starting a very small landscape design, install and maintenance business. Very part time to start, and see where it will go.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks for taking us along with you on your roadtrip! That’s dedication!
I really liked what you said about the less-obvious values of a microbusiness – it’s not always completely about the money. I’m a spinner and a weaver – fiber art is my passion. I spin handspun yarn and I weave home textiles and wearable accessories. Once I retired from my “day job” I had much more time to pursue my hobbies. I started selling my extra production on Etsy (http://DebbieBHandspun.etsy.com), and it covers my materials and equipment costs plus gives me a bit of a surplus for extras (like supporting the podcast!) Does it cover a decent hourly wage? No. But it does make my expensive hobbies cost-free, and makes it easier to manage our monthly household budget (my husband is the bread-winner).
I also agree that whatever you do, quality should be top priority. Whether it’s goods or services that you’re offering, it has to be the best, otherwise you won’t get repeat customers.

listening to your podcast. from the sounds of things I thought you were in illinois lol. great podcast but I must admit I really loved listening to the cast iron one last week. I noticed when you got into Massachusetts I couldn’t hear road noise. thanks for the info and you’ve got my wheels turning :)
