ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz

October 8th, 2013

Yesterday was a soggy day here in Maine.  No garden work was done, the chickens & pigs barely got fed between the rain storms.  My day was spent working in indoors, canning tomato soup, making an apple crisp, cleaning, working in the office.  It’s nice to have some time indoors, my house can get a bit untidy when we have weeks without rain.  Sometimes, however, I need to take a cue from Dexter and just spend some time relaxing.  This cat has the relaxing thing down pat.

That’s what I did last night, I spent an hour reading instead of writing an in depth blog post – hope you don’t mind. I figured the pictures of Dexter would make up for it – he’s one cute cat!

Do you find yourself putting off inside chores when it’s nice outside?

Good for you! What are you reading at the moment?
So true about the house in summer. Normally, I cach up before Thankgiving, but this year, I am trying to do it earlier, before going on a trip to the west for two weeks. The garden is still too nice to cut down, so I will have a ton to do when we get back to put the garden to bed.
It must be a thing about grey cats. Our Sweetpea is the sweetest thing ever, and so laid back.
It is a good idea to learn about taking time off from the cats!

The entire inside of our old brick fireplace was covered in mildew from the wet summer we had. I was obviously not on top of cleaning it. Always like that in the summer. WInter is when my house gets clean. Well,

I find myself ignoring indoor chores even when it’s not nice out! I’d rather be out in the rain working than cleaning the house.

Woke up this morning to our first chilly fall morning. The kitties did not go outside – said a polite, “no, thank you” and went right back to bed!

Cleaning is my least favorite chore so I take any excuse to be outside, working in the garden in the summer or shoveilng snow in winter.

I agree with you! When it’s rainy or winter, I catch up :)

And you’re right, Dexter makes up for anything!!

Dexter is adorable. My 15-pound tabby likes to try and squeeze into or onto small boxes for a snooze, too.

Susy, you must have received the rain we got here on Sunday. That was our drizzly day. We received .13 of an inch that day but for the month we have a total of 2.59 inches. That’s above the average of 2.49 for the month with three weeks left in the month. It makes it difficult to get out in the garden and work when there’s mud. I really should be digging up those potatoes when the ground is soft. The clean up will begin this week in preparation of another great yard waste caper for this year. I’m hoping to get even more than the 600 bags I confiscated last year.

    Have a great soup/nap day.

Absolutely put off inside chores. Rain and winter is the time we take care of most things inside. We have a wonderful time with all the surprises working outside brings. Like my beautiful feathered ladies roaming the yard. Watching the leaves turn and fall to the ground, Seeing the birds and chipmunks stealing away goodies (this year in my flower boxes!). Inside will always be there to do. Outside has all the ever-changing adventures for us to experience!
