Quote of the Day: Charles Mingus
Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.
–Charles Mingus
I came across this quote earlier this week and had to smile. Mr Chiots and I live complicated lives, yet I feel like our lives are very simple. We revel in the process and really relish the little things. We work long hours and yet we somehow we’re accomplish more than most other people. We’re constantly being asked how we find time to do all we do. I truly believe it’s because we appreciate and are content with simplicity.
What simple things are you enjoying this weekend?

Susy, simple things can be busy things as you well know. This weekend is some what simple with a visit to the state capital building with a friend, lunch afterward, and church with lunch afterward on Sunday. The simplest things I know to do is spending time with family and friends. It doesn’t matter what the task or event is. It’s just the time together talking, laughing, and connecting.
Have a great simple busy day.

Shoveling, shoveling, shoveling… Snow and horse stalls… We’ll wait on the snow though in hopes that the wind dies down, so the snow doesn’t just blow back into our shoveled paths. And I went for a wonderful cross country ski with a friend yesterday.

It’s garden prep time in zone 9 so we’ve been enjoying pulling the weeds, watching the bees buzz around the cabbage flowers and the peach tree blossoms. Most of all I enjoy the serenity I feel when the kids and I can be outdoors, and it’s great when my 5 yr old and 20 mo. old join in too. People area amazed when they learn how much we do around our little urban homestead and they ask how we find the time. Like you, we limit ours media intake to what we can stream online (limited to no commercials). I’m a stay at home mom and errands are done during the week when fewer people are out, errands during “off” hours saves so much time and frustration!

I recently listened to your Seeds of Change podcast and as I’ve been going through my seed box I wondered if you ever save your own seed?

Simple meals… Soup and grilled cheese (homemade bread), leftovers plus homegrown salad, fried eggs from our chickens. Working on the property getting things prepared for summer (we’re pretty much in spring right now), reading picture books and watching the sun set with my toddler, and naps.
