Friday Favorite: Tiny Notebooks

February 21st, 2014

I always have a tiny notebook and a pen in my purse.  Mostly, I use it to jot down notes, lists of things I need and other important information.

In this little notebook I also keep pertinent information that I might need while out and about.  This particular notebook is filled it information on local farms and sources for local food.

I’m not particular to brand of notebook, I’ve had a wide variety. This past time I needed new ones I got Field Notes“>Field Notes brand and I really love them. They’re the perfect size and not too thick. I’m also a HUGE fan of quadrille paper so that makes me really love these!

Are you in the habit of carrying a notebook with you all the time?

I do! I am the list queen. I keep an excel spreadsheet on the computer and a little notebook in my purse.

I just bought an organizer notebook. Very simple, not tiny but small enough to not be cumbersome. I keep a 3 x 5 spiral bound notebook and tiny pen in my back pocket when I’m working outside. I never remember everything no matter how much I tell myself that I will. Keeping the little notebook and pen keeps me from running back to the house every time I think of something to add to the to do list.

I keep one in my handbag with all the important dates to remember and what I might need to purchase when I am out and about. It would help if I could remember to keep a pen or pencil (with a tip).

Susy, I have two note books that are spiral bound and are 5X7 inch size. There not exactly pocket size but fit my use nicely. One is in my truck to be used for meeting notes and acquired email addresses or just plain addresses (does anyone use those any more). The pen stays right inside the spiral. The other notebook is by my computer to jot down things to remember for a later time. The biggest help for an aging old guy is the cell phone. The calendar and alarm function is loaded daily with reminders on the ToDo list. It’s the best tool ever. Now where did I put that cell phone. :-)

Have a great tiny notebook day.

I love quadrille paper, and ever since I grew up in France I have been using quadrille paper note pads from the Rhodia company, with the orange covers.
It is so nice to have the grid for when a garden idea or a knitting pattern comes to mind, or something has to be sketched out, for quilting ideas or at a quilt shop.
I recently charted a great cable sequence from someone else’s hat at my knitting group.
It is also lovely it for plain writing.
Thank you, Suzy, for sharing a US source for such a handy product.

I think my love of quadrille paper comes from growing up in Colombia. All the notebooks there were this way, I never could quite get used to simple lined paper!

I love notebooks too. I usually use the composition books, I’d be in heaven if I could find those in quad paper format. I’ve loved quad ever since I was a student in Germany.

I have a book for everything: gardening, homeschooling, notes for everything from podcasts to radio programs to group meetings, personal journaling, and homeschool journaling so I can go back and see what we did which day. Now if I could just get in the habit of keeping my weekly menus in one. I have a smaller notebook in my purse with measurements and notes of things like matress thicknesses or nooks and crannies in my home that need a piece of furniture, so if I find something at the thrift shop, I know whether it will work or not.

I keep one in my backpack, as I don’t carry a purse. You never know when inspiration or a good recipe will hit!

I have a small spiral notepad in my purse used to make grocery lists, to-do things, jot down addresses and appointments until I can take the time to put them in my phone. Technology is wonderful, but there’s nothing quicker in my book than a favorite pen and scribbling on paper.

Nootebooks, what would I do without one. I always have a small notebook with me. I still like paper and pen. For me its easier than typing notes into my phone, and then I forget I made a note. I tucked small notebooks into Christmas stockings last year, to my surprise everyone commented how much they loved that one item.

What is it about graph paper?! I love it, too! Always have…since I was a girl. I, too, keep a notebook in my purse…jot things down to look into later, reminders of this or that…I will have to try out these Field Notes…they look to be just the right size. Thanks for sharing!
