Quote of the Day: Linda Joan Smith
We connect with the garden through our feet. Toes in the new-clipped grass. Clogs crunching on gravel. Soles on brick pavers. To set our feet upon any one of these is to savor the garden’s pleasures, lured by a well mown path or lulled by a sun-blessed patio. These form the floor of our outdoor home, the foundations on which the garden–and the gardener–rests.

It won’t be long my friends!
Suzy, Still miss hearing you on podcast.FYI I found this old copy of a book by Ruth Stout titled. How to have A GREEN THUMB WITHOUT AN ACHING BACK . It is a very interesting theory that she has used for many years on no till gardening. She calls it the lazy mans garden. I love her humor and spunk. I got this book on Amazon.com. Please read it, I think you would love it. Also just a quick note I get a lot of my books at 1/2 Price Book store in our area of Chicago. You get a lot of cook books and gardening books cheap! Do having something of that nature out by you?

Susy, I’m really trying hard to be patient but it’s not working to well. More snow in the forecast for today. My hope is that it’s rain instead but with temperatures hovering around the 30 mark it doesn’t look too promising. Another couple days of cold temps and then a day in the middle 60s with days in the 50s following. In the mean time I have plants under the grow lights getting bigger and stronger every day. Maybe next week I’ll try planting again.
I’m not a barefoot person. My foot attire is muck boots this time of the year with regular garden boots the rest of the year. The soil temperature has dropped back down to 45 degrees at six inches. I’m really hoping to get my first planting of potatoes in the ground next week as well.
Have a great bare toe wiggling day.

I love working barefoot in the garden and walking in my yard. Sadly I have to be VERY careful when I go barefoot anywhere in my yard. I have discovered that there is glass all over. Thank God no one has had sliced feet, but we have been stabbed by pine needles from the neighbor’s trees. Very depressing!
