AHHHHHH……

July 1st, 2014

On Sunday afternoon we finally strung up our hammock.  This hammock is an oldie brought from Colombia many years ago by my parents. Sadly, it’s been sitting in a box for way too long – not anymore!!!

We hung it up under a big red maple tree back by the little potager behind the house. It’s the perfect spot because it gets a nice breeze and has fairly dense shade.  It’s nice to finally have a spot in the garden to sit and relax.  Back in Ohio we would sit on our front porch and on our back deck, here we don’t really have a spot to sit and take in the outdoors.

I spent some time in it on Sunday afternoon and it was heavenly,
perfectly cool on a hot day,
perfectly relaxing on a Sunday afternoon,
and perfectly comfortable after a morning of hard work.

Do you have a spot to relax in the garden?

Susy, yes, I do have a spot in Terra Nova Gardens to sit and enjoy the sight, sounds, and conversations of those passing by. I placed a picnic table under a big cottonwood tree right by a natural spring that bubbles up out of the ground. So as I sit resting from the garden work wildlife will come to drink at the spring and with slow movements, I can watch as they drink their fill. All kinds of birds will come to the watering hole.

The folks in the neighborhood will honk and stop at the road. Many conversations are held there at the garden driveway. Unfortunately in an urban garden city noise never quits so in my little garden paradise, traffic noise and sirens can always be heard in the back ground. It still is a sanctuary of peace. Weather has prevented me from spending as much time their as I wanted this year. Hopefully, July will allow more time there.

Have a great hammock relaxing day.

I have a few good spots, but the mosquitoes are so horrible here from May through September that I don’t get much time out there. Even with incense and wearing long sleeves, socks and pants I usually get a dozen or more bites on my face and hands :(

    I love that hammock!!
At night, when it cools off, my daughter and I sit out by the squash plants and do some good old fashioned earthing. Just sitting in the grass and noticing things. It’s so relaxing!

I have a lovely deck & garden to sit in outside my back door..Patio chairs & table on the deck & a swinging bench on my little patio that is surrounded by shade garden… but at my community garden, there really isnt anywhere nice to sit, especially in the shade.. usually I sit in the shade of my car since I park right next to my plots.
