Lost
I’m lost without my camera, it has become almost a part of me. Those that know me pretty much see me with a camera in front of my face. It goes everywhere with me and I find myself taking photos daily.
Earlier this week I sent my camera and a few of my lenses off to Canon for a tuneup. One of my lenses wasn’t focusing quite right and my camera had taken over 100,000 photos and was ready for a little maintenance.
I keep finding myself reaching for it, and it’s not there. Luckily I have a huge backlog of garden tour photos from this summer that I will be sharing with you over the coming week. If not, I have my iPad and will have to use it in a photo emergency. Photos are my diary and now I feel like I’ll be missing out on capturing the memories of what happens these coming weeks. I will be glad to have my camera back in tip top shape for my trip to Seattle in September.
Do you have anything that you feel lost if you don’t have with you?

I’m lost without a camera. There’s always one on the dining room table that’s ready to go. I need to send mine and Taylor’s out for tuneups, and I’m sending mine one at a time. I think my small, most often used camera has only 8,000 photos but it’s gotten dusty.

I would/will feel exactly the same without my camera. My camera is in need of a good cleaning. Tell me more about this service Canon offers.

Because I have a camera and four lenses it made the most sense for me to join Canon Professional Services at the Gold level. It’s $100/year and you can send in up to 5 items for cleaning/maintenance. I plan on sending in all of my equipment every year. The cleaning/maintenance is free and included in the membership. One of my lenses did need a repair which they sent me quote to have it repaired, which I went ahead & did. It’s a good value for me, not sure if it would be for you, it depends on what you have. Susy, I know you are going to cringe when I say my cell phone. I’m not one to have the latest IPhone or app to do what ever it is. However, it’s one of the most useful tools I could ever imagine. I don’t have data plans or media access but the flexibility for a phone call to track me down whether I’m sipping a lemonade in the backyard or in the wilds of Louisiana chain sawing trees after a disaster is worth having one. I can be in Terra Nova Gardens all day without the fear of missing an important call. It even worked in Mexico when I helped to drive a van to Nicaragua.
I do have a camera and I am starting to carry it with more than I have in past years. The new technology with cell phones even has pretty good cameras in them. I see that scowl. For a guy that still thinks a Kodak Easy Share camera is a good camera, the cell phone camera is good. Selfies are a way of life in today’s culture. I mentioned to my daughter about being the only one that’s not done a selfie. She reminded me that I was taking selfies for email and blogs with my camera on a tripod with the timer function before selfies were invented. Humbly, I had to agree.
Have a great picture taking day.
