Friday Favorite: Potting Sheds
I’ve always dreamed of having a proper potting shed, instead most of my potting is done on the kitchen table or kneeling on the ground outside. Some day I will have a potting shed, but that probably won’t be for a few more years. Until then I’ll enjoy potting sheds that I see out and about. Like this beauty spotted on one of my garden tours this summer.
Lovely isn’t it? I also took photos of everyones work and compost areas, you know those areas of the garden we all have but are less than perfect. I actually love seeing them and I’ll post photos of those later.
Do you have a dedicated potting ares?

I do, though it is shared with 2 trash barrels, and in the winter it has to house the snow blower. Nonetheless, it a great place to have all my tools and pots together, and I have a nice teak work table with a place to do potting with a grid, and a tray underneath to catch all the extra potting soil.
I would like to have a more whimsical shed, but right now I am happy to have a practical one!
I love that one you photographed, I love the weathered look! It look as isf it grew there…

I adore that shed! We are planning to build a simple one with a slant roof that will angle into a steep hillside… the hope is that I can start plants, house tools, and dry herbs and flowers in the peak of the roof. What we need is time to build it ! Isn’t that always the way … I would love to see more composting set ups, that is one area I need to send my attention.

Susy, Wow, that looks like a real busy shed. Ha, my potting shed is a wheel barrow. Every Spring I mix up a couple batches of special mix for my flower pots that decorate the poor man’s living patio. The mix just gets scooped into the pots directly from the wheel barrow and the plants are planted right there. The poor man’s living patio always looks great. I’ve been toying with the idea of building a pallet shed for storing tools and unused pots for the Winter months. That’s way down on the todo list.
Have a great potting shed planning day.

We have a potting bench that was here when we moved in, however it needs to be rebuilt. I’d love a nice potting shed but I don’t think that’s in the cards for awhile!

I don’t have one, would love one or even a bench.
That one is adorable.

I’m afraid I’m limited to sitting on the ground to do my planting. Some day I will have a shed!

A potting shed like that is something I dream of. We currently have one shed that has no light and serves as storage area for everything from gardening stuff to weedwhackers, bicycles, power saws, building materials, and strollers. It’s our garage, basement, and utility room that we don’t have!
One day I’d love to have a little area where I can keep just gardening things… one can dream.

Someone has obviously spent a lot of time decorating, and they should feel proud at how lovely it looks. It’s incredibly inviting and pleasant to the eyes. It would make a great shop-front for selling stuff for the potting shed.
But as someone who uses my potting area at least once a day (so imagine the detris which gets over everything) I cannot want something like the image for myself. I’d be spending my days cleaning up after messing it up – because I REALLY mess it up!
It does have some lovely ideas though, like making use of the hanging space on the ceiling for baskets and drying herbs. I think I’d want my watering can at ground level though. ;)

What an amazing work space, I am so envious.

I don’t have a potting shed either, and would love one, of course.
My quick fix is two, old, upside down metal garbage cans with a slender piece of plywood laid over the top . Keeps me working at a good height with minimum bending over, and has plenty of space to work. Anyone could replicate it!

Love this little retreat, especially the books. Hope my potting shed ages this gracefully.
