Finally….

December 17th, 2014

I mentioned last week that I was waiting for a light dusting of snow so we could get our Christmas card photo. This past Friday morning we work up to the perfect conditions for our photo. Out we went to work on our plan…
Christmas Card 1
Christmas Card 2
We took a bunch of photos, some which included the two of us. Our friends are always telling us to include ourselves in our Christmas card photos. After playing around with the photos and supplies from my office and sewing room, I came up with a lovely card:
Christmas Card 4
Christmas Card 3
I worked for a few hours yesterday and am about halfway through the construction process for the cards. Next up, addressing and getting them to the post office to be delivered far and wide. Now I can start thinking about what I want to do for next year. I love making Christmas cards because it gives me something creative to do. Each year I spend so much time trying to come up with a fun idea that is unique. Here are a few of our past cards:

Last year I didn’t end up doing a card because we ran out of time. With the slaughtering of the pigs and a 10 day trip back to Ohio after Thanksgiving I simply wasn’t able to get photos finished in time for printing. That’s one of the reasons I’m printing and making my own cards this year instead of having them printed professionally. I hope our friends and family enjoy our cards as much as I enjoy making them.

Susy, I mentioned in a previous post that I received one of your cards some years ago. I was looking through the assortment of card pictures on your post and became excited when I found the one you sent. It was the one with the Ball canning jar on the front. This year’s picture really is an awesome picture for your card. Most of my Christmas cards have been sent already. I just have a few special family cards left to do and will get them in the mail over the next couple days.

Have a great Christmas card sending day.

I like the postcard idea. No envelopes = less steps and waste. I haven’t gotten around to doing cards this year…maybe New Years cards!

One year I got the card with your tiny travel trailer all done up in lights, and It has been on my fridge for the past few years. I finally took it down as I’m packing to move to Ohio. I love your card this year too, Susy. Your photographs are phenomenal and I always look forward to your most recent blog post, not only to see what is going on up there in Maine, but for the pictures. Happy Holidays!

Beautiful card, Suzy. Thanks for sharing. Wish I had the time to make my own cards but haven’t did my own cards since the kids were young and helped make them. Love seeing your photos and posts. Hope we get some snow here for Christmas. Not too likely though.

How could anyone not enjoy your cards…always creative. This years card is perfect. If we were waiting for snow to make cards…we may be waiting a long time. I keep hoping, but its too warm and rainy. Merry Christmas to you and Mr Chiots.

Awesome–I think this might be my favorite.

My cards are halfway done–I’m stalling on the envelopes :(
