Modern Still Life

January 13th, 2015

It’s been a busy few months for us and there are a few things that are out of order in our lives. For one, our dining room table is still on the back porch. It’s currently holding bacon and hams that will go in the smoker in a few days. Our current dining room table is an old desk. It’s really small, but there are only two of us so it’s not really a big deal, it works. When I walked by yesterday I had to laugh. With the plate of fruit, an opened bottle of wine and a peppermint geranium plant from the farmers market it looked like a modern still life. It’s not a bad office at all!

Generally I work in the living when I can be mobile, I usually find a sunny spot in a comfy chair, but yesterday I needed a workspace with a surface, so the dining room it was my office for a few hours.

What’s your favorites spot to work in your home?

My kitchen table. I spend hours there each day working, reading, eating…and when company comes, we seem to spend most of our time there as well.

The balcony of our cabin is my favorite outside space to work on proofreading especially.

Susy, I have designated a room on the ground level of my multilevel house as a war room. It’s where I do all my computer work, pay the bills, watch TV, view YouTube videos, and pray for those in need. I spend a lot of time there. I have one desk that is used for …. ahem …. piling stuff that I’ll get to later and never do. The other computer desk is the work horse of the room. It houses the desk top computer along with all the important documents like …. (big sigh) tax returns.

I received your calendar a couple days ago and it is now hanging on the side of the book case beside the computer desk. It is magnificent just as I’ve always remembered it to be. I do like books. I have four book cases in the war room that are filled with books. One is a five shelf case and the other three are two shelf cases. They are all packed with books. I really need to sort through the books and give away the ones I probably won’t ever read again. Books like (Brian will chuckle at this) Visual basic 5 or HTML publishing from at least 15 years ago. Yeah, I had it in mind to do Web design back then but it just didn’t happen. Life has a way of getting in the way some times.

Have a great multipurpose desk day.

Mine has been moved over time but it always cycles back to the kitchen island. I have not had a proper desk since sometime in college.

I recently turned my 2nd guest room into an office and the way I have it set up I get great natural light. This is my new favorite place to work in my house that’s not the couch. I noticed that you had some wine my favorite is Bennett Lane Winery. They have excellent quality wines at great prices. You can order from their website http://www.bennettlane.com

    Excellent Post! Thank You
