Spring?
Yesterday there was a distinctly different feeling in the air when I went out. I think perhaps it was moisture, it was finally warm enough to feel moisture in the air. Even though it was only 15 degrees and we woke up to a few inches of fresh snow on the ground, there was something different in the air.
Probably later this week I will put a tap in one of the maple trees that I can watch from the house. It isn’t quite warm enough for sugaring season but it won’t be too much longer.
Have you noticed a change in the season recently? Do you feel like spring will arrive in your garden soon?

I feel a change also. We woke up to fresh snow too but with the sun so bright & the temp rising into the 20s I started feeling hopeful. I even thought about starting seeds yesterday. It was just a thought though.

Yes. There is still plenty of snow out there, but yesterday the birds were singing as if Spring had arrived! I know that sometime this month I’ll start planting garden Oh, happy day!

That’s funny, I felt something too. Our birds sounded different and the light is lasting longer. We did have 6″ on Thursday- the last until next year in my opinion!

Susy, the indicator that I use for encouragement that Spring is on the way is the tulip bed. When the tulips start poking their nose up through the frozen dirt, I know that Winter weather is on the way out. That day has arrived. Both the Tulips and the Daffodils have begun there growth toward Spring flowering. It always amazes me how they know when to start growing when the ground is so frozen. It’s one of the mysteries of nature. The forecast, other than the 3 degrees for tonight, is warmer. Highs in the 50s and 60s over the next 10 days will certainly feel like Spring. Yippie!!
Have a great snow melting day.

Temps here in MN will be in the upper 40s next week and maybe even low 50s! I am feeling an early spring. We are definitely getting a break this winter. We have only had 27″ of snow. That’s abnormal for what people like to call minne”snow”ta!
