Finally

April 8th, 2015

I mentioned a few months ago that we purchased new living room furniture. Our old pieces are old, and falling apart. After searching and waiting for a sale, we ordered furniture back at the beginning of January. We waited, and waited, and they finally called to schedule a delivery.

Unfortunately the snowbanks were so high there was no way a big truck was going to make it up our driveway, let alone be able to turn around at the top. So I delayed the delivery for a month hoping the snow would be gone and mud season would be over.

The snow melted just in time, but the driveway was super muddy. Thankfully, the truck made it up without much trouble and our furniture was delivered. The cats are already camped out on it, so I guess it’s cat approved.

Anything exciting happening in your household this week?

Susy, well then, if cats approve what else is needed. Our Spring thaw has been over for quite some time here in Nebraska. March was extremely warm compared to what it should have been. I’ve planted potatoes and probably will be planting cabbage seedlings, onion seedlings and sets, lettuce, radishes, and maybe Swiss Chard over the next few days.

I’ve been working on setting up the automated irrigation in the back yard raised beds. I did have one set up last year with good results so another with integrated into the system this year. It works completely on gravity and is a combination of many Internet ideas put together in my mind. Now that alone is a scary thing. My 400 gallon rain catch supply tank is all but full already. It’s a good way to start the garden season.

Enjoy your new furniture and may your mud days be soon a distant memory. How’s the chiropractic work doing for the back? Can’t have that acting up during planting season can we. Have a great Maine day.

We don’t waste money on new furniture here, we repair and cover. Our couch is at least 30 yrs. old and a cover of free fleece blankets make it look great. Course we could never afford it anyway. Older, used holds up better so that’s why we stick with it. What a bummer you had to wait for yours. But the isolation would be so worth waiting on furntiure as it was a neccessity to be delivered at a certain time. I love seeing photos of your place. I’ve never been to Maine.

Very Nice Furniture! I bet you will enjoy it a lot. I am glad the kitties approve. That is important. ;) We are almost ready to move into our new trailer. Just waiting to a repair to some of the flooring by the manufacturer… then we can actually do it! I have moved in my plants, a wind chime, put up curtains and have just a few tiny things in there and a lamp. It’s like moving into a play house!

With the cat’s approval now you can really call it Fur-niture! :) Do you worry about them scratching their claws on it? Our cats have used the backs of our Fur-niture for scratching posts for years. Luckily the damage can’t be seen too much!
Our couch looks very similar to yours…same color too!
