Golden
I was out working in the garden two nights ago and noticed the beautiful light washing over the goldenrod and queen anne’s lace. There are no way that words could describe the beauty of this moment, I was happy that my camera was by my side.
Goldenrod gets a bad rap for causing allergies, but it really doesn’t. It’s the ragweed that blooms at the same time that is the culprit for seasonal allergies. Goldenrod is an important plant for pollinators, especially for monarch butterflies. I encourage you to let it bloom and thrive in your garden if you have it.
What beauty are you noticing around you this week?

Lovely pics Susy!
Nothing is blooming in my yard currently, but my coleus has taken off this year and I can say that this bunch currently growing is the prettiest I’ve ever seen. Interesting that they’re from seeds I took from the tops of some “so-so” coleus I purchased from our feed store last year.

Like you Susy, I am noticing that beautiful late summer light in the very late afternoons and right before dusk. Just seems to wash everything in gold…

We recently took a ride in the surrounding hay fields shortly before dusk looking for deer. We found a large herd just as the lightning bugs were coming out and the full moon was rising. The sight was breathtaking and I am not sure there is a camera that could do it justice. I feel sad for people who never have the opportunity to see something so beautiful.

I have lots of goldenrod all around the edges of my hay-fields. I’m going to harvest some to dry and save that lovely color. I feel so blessed to live on a farm where these beautiful sights are part of the daily routine.
