Good Morning
Our front door isn’t very becoming, in fact, I’m always trying to think of ways to kind of hide it or cover it up. This year, I decided a climbing vine would be perfect. I had a pack of morning glory seeds and they were perfect, though they are a heat loving vine so they took a LONG time to get going. Perhaps something that can take the cold would be a better option. Something perennial would be even better, but I don’t want to make that much of a commitment yet.
I quite like having something scrambling up over the door and providing some color and distraction. I’m thinking that next year I’m going to try the Firecracker vine (Ipomoea lobata), I even picked up seed recently. There’s a native wisteria in a pot that I got earlier this summer that I’ve also been contemplating planting there. It’s definitely something I want to do now that I’ve tried.
What’s your favorite flowering vine?

When it comes to native perennials, there’s nothing quite so hardy as a trumpet vine. They have their problems, but I do love them.
As always, thanks for sharing beautiful snippets of your gardening life with us :)

My favorite vines are probably tropical ones! Jade vine, stephanotis, chalice vine, gac, passiflora…gah, I could go on and on!

I love morning glories. But here in southern California, there is a vine called “Mexican Coral Vine” that is just divine.

Clematis and there is a beautiful white perennial one. And it has a lovely scent, which is even better!

I love honeysuckle. My parents have some growing around their bedroom window, and everytime they open the window, the most wonderful scent wafts in.

Susy, no flowering vine here that I like. I’m not sure bind weed would count as cute. I’m not a big fan of morning glory either. Here in Nebraska we don’t have buy seeds for either one. They just kind of grow wild and are a nuisance weed. Wisteria is the vine that most plant here that winters over well and looks good. It takes awhile to establish but behaves itself and doesn’t try to take over the world.
Have a great front door vine day.

The morning glory vine looks beautiful, one of my favorite flowing vines. Passion flower, honeysuckle and bitter melon are three of my favorites.
