Friday Favorite: ZZZZZZ

October 23rd, 2015

I like to get good sleep every night, sometimes I go through phases where I don’t. The last week or so, I’ve been waking at 4 am, not quite the rising time that keeps me most productive throughout the day.

Perhaps it’s the moon, or maybe the coyotes are howling at that time, or one the cats might be playing with something. You never quite appreciate uninterrupted sleep until you’ve gone without it for a while. I’m keeping my fingers crosses that tonight I’ll be able to sleep until at least 5:45, which is my normal wake-up time.

What time do you usually get up in the morning?

5am on the weekdays… anywhere from 8-10 on weekends.. I stay up way too late every night so am a bit sleep deprived on a regular basis.. but I guess not too much. I get 6-7 hours sleep during the week.

The alarm goes off at 5:55…..then I lay there and think about it a while and usually get out of bed around 6:15. Yes, I’m one of “those” people!

Your picture is great. Sometimes those quiet hours in the dark before everyone else is up are wonderful.
But not on a regular basis.

I have also woken up pre-dawn for the last week. Not my favorite thing. When I accept that I am not getting back to sleep but not ready for the day, I get up, light a few candles in my bedroom. I lay in bed and let the candlelight gradually meld with the sunrise, which is a much more pleasant way to wake up than hitting the electric lights at o-dark-hundred.

try a little milk lightly sweetened with molasses or honey right before bed. Helps calm the stress hormones in the body that are responsible for middle of the night wake up calls!
