Waiting…..
Usually I have my seed order all figured out by now and the seeds have arrived and have been categorized and organized. Not.this.year.
I’ve looked through a few catalogs and sorted through my seeds, but I haven’t made a final list of things I want. I feel like I’m behind, but I’m not, I’m just usually ahead of the game. This year my goal is to only buy the essentials, I have lots of seeds in my stash that should be used up. The good thing is that I’ll save a few dollars and I should save space in the garden. There is a habit around here of having more seedlings than garden space, I bet none of you ever have that problem. Today, I will be ordering my seeds. Then the gardening season has begun.
Have you ordered your seeds yet this year?

I haven’t ordered anything yet, not even trees. I went through my stash last year and used most of it. Now it’s time to go through what little is left and finalize the order. I’ll be starting onion, leek and other cold crops in the high tunnel in a few weeks.

Yes, mine came today. But then our gardening season here in southern Spain starts early. Some things stay out overwinter, especially when it is mild as this one has been so far.
They will be sown outside within the next two weeks depending on the forecast temperatures.

I’m using what I have this year. I save seeds each year and usually order seeds for new things I want to try, but I just have too much in my seed stash, so decided to abstain from adding more this year. My tomato seedlings are up, and some of the peppers, and I’m trying a little hydroponic experiment growing spinach in quart canning jars.

I had only just begun to think about it… I have space now to start my own seedlings so it is a game changer. I order from Sand Hill Preservation and some from my local Sow True Seeds. This part is so fun- the hope and optimism before battling weather, pests, and time :D

I have all mine ordered but am trying to do what you are doing this year…cutting back a little and ordering just the essentials. I think it is much needed after the large seed orders I placed last year! I’ll be starting onions and leeks next week I think.

Yes, I’m done! I placed my first seed order last August to take advantage of an early discount. Then I placed a few more through the end of last year. They have all arrived and I’ve started some of the long-season ones already. My sweet peas are up and thriving and other varieties will be up soon. I should add that my business is growing cut flowers, so I do need to plan far ahead. My small greenhouse will soon be full of baby plants.

I haven’t ordered either. I’m changing my garden plan this year, so I’m trying to wrap the plans up ASAP so that I can order what I want for the new plot.
I do have a lot of seeds currently, so once the plans are made, I may not need as many as I’ve been shopping (aka wishing) for.

You still have a couple months before you’ll need to start the majority of your seeds. For example, I won’t be starting tomato seeds for almost 3 more months! Sometimes, it just takes a while to put the seed-ordering puzzle together.

Spring is really coming early to my garden this year, but I to have been unusually slow in getting my wish list ready for this coming growing season.

I can’t begin to think about a garden and ordering seeds until my puppies have left which hopefully will be on the 21st. Then, I begin planning.

Do you happen to remember where you purchased your rectangular tins for seed storing? I have been searching for a good method, and am not finding what I want.
