Snug as Bugs
My greens are all snug as bugs in the low tunnel in the potager. After I transplanted them we had some really cold nights, down into the teens. I added an extra layer of agribon to my little lovelies and they came through with flying colors.
When I went out in the morning the temperature under the agribon was 10 degrees warmer than outside the low tunnel. It’s pretty amazing what you can do with a little bit of plastic. Hopefully I’ll be eating lettuce in a few weeks.
What’s the temperature like in your garden?

Susy, the temperature at Terra Nova Gardens this morning is 51 degrees but it will not get much warmer and the high for tomorrow will be 39 degrees. The anticipated storm hasn’t hit just yet but the promise is that it will arrive about 11am this morning. Freezing temps over night will cause 1-3 inches of snow. I am rejoicing for this rain and snow. Our average moisture for March is 2.12 inches but so far this month we have received only .53 inches. Snow is the best moisture ever in my humble opinion. It is laced with rich nitrogen and melts slowly so most all of the moisture is slurped up by the dry soil. So as other cringe and put a frown on their faces, I am happy about the March snow.
Have a great day enjoying your greens.

Our weather has been really warm. One day we were in the 60s. But the Rain. Oy! We’ve had all of our normal rain during the water year (Oct to Sept) all ready for this year. Plus an extra foot!
Just as the garden starts drying out, another storm comes along and the ducks claim it as a swimming pool again. Last week, the Chinook winds kicked in and I thought I was set to start. Alas….
I doubt the garlic will be happy this year. Maybe it will dry out in time to plant tomatoes in June
