Fourth of July Fun
On the Fourth of July, we spent the day at our neighbor’s family’s camp on Lake St. George. First off, Mr Chiots was in the boat parade. Our neighbor used his vintage boat to tow Mr Chiots in his sailboat (no sails, sporting flags instead). It’s a fun little community event that is getting better and better every year!
After the parade we enjoyed the BBQ chicken from the local volunteer fire dept (of which Mr Chiots is a member) and then we sat by the lake, relaxed, went for boat ride, and Mr Chiots sailed, and sailed, and sailed.
It was a fun and relaxing day spent in the company of family and friends, just as it should be. Being on a lake on the Fourth of July is just as American as apple pie.
How did you celebrate this patriotic holiday?

Every 4th of July my aunt hosts a lobster bake on Pemaquid Lake, at the camp where I spent my summers. I don’t like lobster (I know – how can a native Mainer not like lobster?), but there are always lots of great side dishes, and corn on the cob. If I had nothing other than corn on the cob, I’d be in heaven! And then strawberry shortcake for dessert… It’s also a great chance to catch up with my many aunts and uncles, and some of my cousins. A great day!

Susy, sounds like you had a full day of activities. It appeared be a really nice weather day as well. It was great here in Nebraska as well. The temperature was lower 80s which is a relief from the blistering upper 9os we have been getting. I watched a local parade that takes about 2 hours. It’s one that brings people from many miles around to line the parade route hours ahead of time. I happen to know a friend that lives right on the parade route which is an advantage. After the parade the grill is fired up and the traditional burgers, potato salad, chips and dip, and soda pop are consumed by all. A bit later the city fireworks are enjoyed. Then it’s blow up the remaining fireworks and fall into bed at half past midnight. Yeah, busy day here as well.
Do you ever go sailing with Brian? Have a great post 4th day.
