So Many Dahlias
My dahlias are blooming like crazy, it’s like they know that they only have a week or two of blooming left. They have been blooming nicely since August, but now they’re really putting on a show. I was happy to see them welcoming me home from my travels over the past two weeks. There’s nothing like seeing some final colors in the garden.
I’ll be digging these tubers after the first frost, if you’ve wondered how to overwinter dahlias in a cold climate stay tuned. I’ll make sure to take lots of photos and write up a post about the process.
Do you grow dahlias? Do you have a favorite variety?

Susy, no Dahlias or any plants that have to dug up here. I guess if I was to pick my favorite flower it would be holly hock. My grandmother had the best holly hocks growing by her house when I was growing up. I have tried to get a patch established several times but they never do well and never come back the next year. I know they grow from seed every year and once a patch is established it reseeds itself every year. I just don’t seem to have the touch to grow them.
A friend of mine has given me some seeds from holly hocks that grow for her so next year I’ll be trying again to plant some holly hocks in the garden.
Have a great enjoying the Dahlias day.

You know me Susy! I grew 230 plants this year. So hard to pick a favorite but I do love Pam Howden.

Ooh! I’ll be watching for your tips. We grew a dahlia for the first time this year – my 4 yr old chose it at the greenhouse and she loves it. It would be great to keep it for next year – I assumed they were annuals!
