Potting on the Peppers
My peppers are growing very well this year, probably better than they’ve ever grown. Typically, I plant them directly in the garden in their soil blocks. This year they outgrew them and needed potting on.
Now they are happily enjoying more root space and the warmth of the office. My tomatoes are just starting to germinate, hopefully they will be ready to transplant directly into the soil without repotting. I used to start them early and pot them on, but I found out they don’t seem to produce any earlier and it’s a lot more work.
What’s growing in your seed starting area this week?

Susy, my seedlings are all outside right now. They are being hardened off for planting in the ground. Well, not the tomatoes just yet. They will have to wait another couple weeks for middle of May. The lettuce, onions,, cabbage, and radishes will be planted this week.
I’ve just about completed the four expansion beds in Terra Nova Gardens. One more bed to hand dig and then I can start on mulching pathways and building fences. It’s all about keeping critters away from my sweet corn. The only way is electric fence.
I will be testing out a new watering system this year on the tomatoes. If it works then it will be expanded with the hope of perhaps automation. The challenge is gravity watering systems have low pressure so figuring out how to do it with very low pressure can make for larger pipes and hoses.
Have a great potting up day.

Wow, those peppers are looking great! What is your secret?
I have many tomatoes and peppers under lights that need to be potted up soon. I also have Persian Basil, and Blue Spice Basil that I started in early march. I am loving the interesting new smells of these two new varieties for me. I may just end up using these in spaghetti, and planting some fresh seeds outside.
