More @ChiotsRun @EthelGloves

October 14th, 2011

I started this blog many years ago to help me keep track of my garden, kind of like a garden notebook or journal of sorts. Now three years later it’s something completely different. I still chronicle what’s going on in the garden on these pages, but there’s a lot of my life thrown in as well. It’s now more of a journal of my journey towards a more simple life and it’s more for you, my readers, than for myself. Almost all of my spare time is spent documenting my life for these pages. I certainly appreciate all of you stopping by every day and commenting, it keeps me posting. Although I sometimes wonder if Mr Chiots, along with my family and friends, get sick of seeing me like this:

I’ve kept my blog ad free, because I don’t want to sell you out and I personally hate annoying ads on websites, that being said, the expenses for a blog do add up. Thanks to those of you who click through my Amazon and Mt Rose Herbs links, I make a few dollars each month to help cover some of those expenses.

You probably know that I was hired earlier this spring to blog a few times a month for Ethel Gloves and I mentioned last week that Ethel had hired me for a new job. I’m now the Social Media Strategist for Ethel Gloves. That means that you’ll find me tweeting, facebooking, pinning, and blogging for Ethel Gloves. I’ll be blogging two-four days a week over at Your Day, make sure you add it to your RSS reader or like Ethel on Facebook and follow along there.

So faithful followers of Chiot’s Run, to celebrate this new job I’m giving away a pair of Ethel Gloves. All you have to do to enter is to comment on this post to win. For an extra chance to win: tweet this post using the icon below with the hashtag #ChiotsRun or share this post from my facebook page.

We have a winner, congrats to Rick from Our Stoney Acre (Rick if you didn’t get my e-mail make sure you contact me through the link in the sidebar)!

How long have you been following along here at Chiot’s Run?

I’ve been following you for at least a year, probably closer to two years. I’m sure I found you through a comment on another blog. The gloves look great.

Congrats on your new post at EthelGloves! I’ve been eyeing those gloves for a while..but the pair I wanted was discontinued or out of stock. I’ll try again someday..

I think I’ve been following you for about 6 months or so.. maybe a little longer. I will say, your blog is definitely my most favorite one and I read a few. ;)

I stumbled upon this site three years ago during a cold snowy night. I was googling gardens and flowers to remind myself that such things existed somewhere in the world, albeit not in Calgary in January. I believe I had typed in “organic gardens“. I`ve been an everyday reader and sometime commenter since. This site has helped me broaden my seed selection to try out heirloom varieties my family never considered before and I`ve cooked many recipes from it (my favorite being the wonderful tomato soup, thanks again for that). Thank you for introducing me to Meyer lemons, we`ve been going steady for almost a year now :)

I don’t know – close to two years maybe? I love it. Our zones are similar and your blog has encouraged me to branch in other directions with my garden and realize that a short growing season can still feed me and my family many months of the year. Thank you so much for all your efforts. :)

I’ve been reading here for at least 3 years. And I followed you over to Not Dabbling in Normal and Simple, Green, Frugal as well. I love all three blogs and find them very helpful. In fact I’ve been waiting for the olives to be available from Chaffinch Orchards ever since you originally posted about them. How did yours turn out by the way? I can’t wait to cure my own.

My olives turned out FABULOUS – I’ll have to do a post with the resources I used – thanks for reminding me! When gardening season is over I should have time to look through the photos and write up the post.

Congrats on the new position! You will be great. I need a new pair of garden gloves and have been admiriing the ones you wear in your various posts. Most of the time they look so clean and pretty. Do they ever get dirty? :) The pair I’ve had for years (Christmas present from the kids) are, shall I say, well used! Coming apart at the seams might also be a good description. I should probably start emailing them the Ethel gloves link to drop a hint… ;)

I do have some Ethel’s that are in rough shape as they’re used for hours a day. Usually the ones in the photos are my “photo ready” pairs (since I also take many of the photos for the Ethel website), they don’t see a ton of hard labor.

I have been a lurker most of the time, but I LOVE your blog. I confess I probably come over to look every day.
I recently moved across the country, and have not been able to re-invent myself in gardening, yard work and my new home. You have kept me company as I have tried to find-myself here on the east coast. Thank you for that.

I had never heard of Ethel Gloves until seeing you use them, and I have not had the money to invest. They look oh so cool though!!!!

Keep it up……you have made my days worth something…thank you!

I started reading Chiots Run after stumbling upon it a year or so ago. I had read every entry, and then a few months later, couldn’t remember the name of the blog. I knew it started with a “Ch”, so after searching for quite some time, finally found it again. I now read it a few times a week, keeping up with all of your adventures.

I think I started reading your blog last winter. I probably found it when researching something. I loved it so much I went back and read the whole thing from the beginning!

I have learned so much from your experiences and many times your blog is my go-to when I’m looking something up.

You live in the same area as some of my family, so I feel a small connection when you write.

I first saw you back when Freedom Gardeners was starting out. That was at least 2 years ago, maybe even 3 years ago.

I bought my pair of Ethel gloves because you recommended them so highly. I have to say, they are my favorite general purpose gardening glove and I use them almost every day.

Hi! I just found your blog this spring when I was doing research on garden blogs as preparation to start my own! I love the look and feel of your site and especially your photos. I would love to try a pair of Ethel gloves. I subscribe to your blog so always read your posts but don’t comment all that often due to time constraints. Best,
