Couch Potatoes

February 14th, 2018

The Winter Olympics have been on for the past few nights, which means we’ve been parked on the couch watching them. We’re not big fans of the summer games, but the winter ones always suck us in.

The Nordic events always draw us in, we watch them all in their entirety. We’re not big fans of the popular sports like figure skating. Generally, we don’t watch sports, but boy the winter games find us spending most evenings on the couch watching. It’s a good thing they only come once every four years.

What’s your favorite Winter Olympic sport to watch?

As a child I loved to watch the Olympics–Nordic Skiing and Luge were my favorites. I don’t remember curling being one of the televised sports as a child, but that might top my list now; after all, I come from curling country in Northern MN :) We haven’t watched this year though, no TV, and I do wish my kids were a wee bit interested (they’ve never seen the Olympics). Maybe next time. . .

Susy, I’m not a fan of sporting events unless there’s a party going on. I like to watch friends and neighbors that are watching the event. My wife was always glued to the TV during the Olympics and her favorite was the figure skating. We always watched the Olympics together. I don’t think I’ve watched the Olympics since she passed some 16 years ago. I do admire the effort, training, and time spent preparing to compete in the Olympics.

I know Brian is intently watching curling. Does he still participate in the local curling events?

Have a great Olympics watching day.
