Look at THIS!!!
The ‘Pizza my Heart’ pepper from Renee’s Garden that I grew in a pot last summer and overwintered in the house is producing peppers like mad. I’ve been harvesting a few peppers each month, yesterday I harvested a big handful to put on pizzas.
I’m going to pop this plant out of the pot, prune it a bit, then plant it in the garden. No doubt, it will respond with delicious peppers in 6-8 weeks. This fall I may dig up a few other peppers and overwinter them in the basement to see how this works on a slightly larger scale. Peppers are a staple in our household, if I can harvest fresh ones for 6-8 months of the year I’ll be one happy cook!
What are you harvesting from the garden today?
Susy, goodness gracious, those look really great. I have harvested a few straw berries but the animals got most of them. I really need to build and strawberry bed with a cage. It’s time to make a new bed of strawberries anyway. My garden is considerably smaller this year. I’m not sure how that happened but time flew by and poof here we are in June. It looks to be a year that gardens are struggling here in Nebraska. It’s very hot with temperature in the middle to upper 90s almost every day. Rains have come but not enough and we are still over three inches behind in moisture. I’m mostly in weed control mode at Terra Nova Gardens. I do have some tomatoes, green peppers, and eggplants in my back yard garden beds. I doubt that I’ll get a harvest until well into August because of the very late spring and then boom hot summer right away. It’s definitely an interesting year.
Have a great pizza pepper day in the garden.

I brought a hot pepper (thai?) in one winter, and it bore peppers all winter long! I never could figure out how they were getting pollinated, but somehow they were…

I am so trying that this winter! I have a longer growing season, but my peppers often lag and produce late, so having a nice head start like that would be amazing.

I’ve been picking herbs and blueberries for over a week and today I picked my first two jalapeno peppers. :-)
