With the slaughter of the pigs on Sunday and butchering happening today, our days have been filled with very heavy things. Luckily there’s still a lot of beautiful life around Chiot’s Run that keeps things from getting to be too much.  Here are some sweet things that I captured with my camera yesterday:
cuteness 1
cuteness 2
cuteness 3

Death brings a greater appreciation for life, I’m certainly loving all the beauty in the lives that still surround us.  All these animals bring a deep richness to our lives.

What beautiful things are filling your day with life today?

Quote of the Day: John Ruskin

May 27th, 2012

All things are literally better, lovelier, and more beloved for the imperfections which have been divinely appointed.

John Ruskin from (The Wabi-Sabi House: The Japanese Art of Imperfect Beauty)

Take some time to notice the beautiful imperfections in the world around you today.

Finding Inspiration

November 2nd, 2011

Being the type of person that doesn’t sit still much, I’m always busy. Recently however, I’ve been feeling busy, which doesn’t happen often to me no matter how much I have to do in my day. When I get this way I have trouble finding my creativity. Not taking time to notice some of the intricate beauty around me is what bogs me down. Yesterday morning after working for a few hours I looked out the window and noticed the beautiful morning; the sun was shining and a heavy frost made everything shine. I took twenty minutes to head outside and take some photos and it made all the difference.

These photos will be a good reminder to take some time each day to notice something beautiful. I need this time as it’s my meditation time of sorts, oddly enough slowing down to notice beauty around me helps me accomplish more in my day. I’m incredible thankful that yesterday was such a sunny, bright, and beautiful morning and I’m thankful that I looked away from my computer to notice!

What is something you have found inspiring lately?

Quote of the Day: Frank Lloyd Wright

“The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it.”

Frank Lloyd Wright

Many people disregard edible things in their garden for what they believe to be more beautiful ornamental plants. I find that edible plants can be just as beautiful, not only to look at but also in the way they nourish us. This radicchio is quite lovely, definitely something that brings much beauty into the garden!

What plants do you find most beautiful?

Quote of the Day: Confucius

October 10th, 2010

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.”

~ Confucius

Sometimes all it takes is a different perspective or a little bit of light to make something stand out as beautiful!

I was walking down the hallway one evening and saw the light shining in on a pitcher that I had thrown some carrots, broccoli, and basil in and was amazed at how beautiful it was.

Have you noticed anything beautiful lately that wouldn’t necessarily be classified as beautiful?
