Catching the Moment

October 2nd, 2010

I almost always have my camera by my side, even when I’m working inside. You just never know at what moment you’ll want to capture. Luckily last week, I had my camera so I was able to catch Little Softie looking at Dexter through the back door. They pawed at each other a bit and Dexter was chirping away at Little Softie. I imagined her saying, “Dad?”

My photos are almost like a photo diary of my life, hardly a day goes by where I don’t take at least 15-20 photos. My life is well documented through the lens of my little camera. I must thank all of you who read as this blog is the reason I started taking lots of photos, I appreciate all of you who stop by every day to check out what I’m snapping photos of and talking about!

Do you keep a diary or journal? Are you in the habit of carrying a camera around to capture the moments?

All Things Pink

January 22nd, 2010

The snow has melted and brown is not the predominant color here in Ohio. This is the part of winter I don’t like. As long as there’s snow I can take the cold weather, but as soon as it’s gone I get more and more antsy for spring. I want to get outside and get some work done. Most of all I want to see some color in the garden. For the next couple days I’ll be celebrating the colors of the garden. Each day I’ll do a collage of a different color, mostly of things in the garden (although a few other things crept into the collages). We’ll start with pink.

What’s your favorite color in the garden?

Always Good for a Laugh

January 14th, 2010

Just about every day I check my Flickr account to see what people are searching for to end up on my photos. It’s not that I particularly care, it’s just good for a laugh. It seems like every day I have a couple very funny search terms that resulted in someone stumbling across one of my photos. Check out these from Google.

I got a good laugh when I saw “barista MMMM.” They ended up on the photo of Mr Chiots making lattes, I’m wondering what exactly they had in mind when they typed that into Google.

Of course sometimes it’s not the search term that’s humorous but it’s the photo they ended up finding through their search. For example search #2 on this day was: Ballet Toes (and this is a common search that leads people to this specific photo).

This photo is titled “Practicing my Ballet Toes”, so that’s how people end up there when searching for ballet toes. I bet this isn’t quite what image they were thinking about when they typed “ballet toes” into google images. Oddly enough, there are many cat photos that come up.

There are days when I’m baffled by search terms, like this one. What exactly are you looking for when you type “driving minivan” into a search engine?

I also wonder what exactly people are looking for when they search for things such as “scary sewer” on this day (oddly this isn’t the first time someone has searched for this and ended up on one of my photos).

I don’t know what’s worse, that someone is searching for “scary sewer” or that one of my photos popped up.

Then there are those time when I have no idea what exactly someone was looking for. What is a brussels sprouts map anyways?

At least they stumbled upon this lovely photo to hopefully entice them cook up some brussles sprouts at home.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve turned up when searching on-line?

2009 Edible Garden Collage

October 17th, 2009

I enjoy being a member of Flickr. I like the social aspect of it, seeing other people’s photos, commenting on them and being a part of groups. I also like the way you can organize your photos into sets. The collage of all the photos in each set is great to see, I particularly liked the collage of my set titled:
2009 Edible Garden.

If you’re not a member of Flickr I’d recommend joining, it’s free (unless you upgrade to a pro account). You may just find a new group of friends (if you are on Flickr post a link to your photostream below, we’d love to see your photos).

Do you have a great on-line place you enjoy visiting?

Chiot’s Nose

January 18th, 2009

I realized I haven’t posted very many photos of the garden’s namesake. Lucy spends all her days in the summer laying outside on the front porch or the back driveway. She follows me around while I’m working in the flowerbeds. Here’s one I snapped while we were out gardening one day this summer.

Lucy likes the winter as well. She loves snow and gets all excited the first snow she sees in the fall. She also loves sunny winter days, she lays in the sun by the front door and even wants to go outside to sit on the porch.

Shop through these links and I get a few cents each time. It's not much, but it allows me to buy a new cookbook or new gardening book every couple months. I appreciate your support!
