Help Around the House

January 20th, 2009

It’s a good thing I have these pets to help me get my housework finished, I couldn’t do it without them. Soafie LOVES clothes fresh out of the dryer. I always carry them all to the bedroom and fold them on the bed. She’s usually in the middle of the pile soon after I arrive. This day I took half the load and when I returned there she was, keeping them warm so they wouldn’t get wrinkled.
This is also the cat that loves to snuggle under the blankets. I think it’s the warmth she likes.

Do your pets help?

Our dog is a big fan of helping to cook dinner, and by that I mean she hovers lest you need anything picked off of the ground. She’s happy to offer her services in return for getting to eat whatever she finds on the floor.

So far the kittens are just free loading off of us :)

Okay, that would be motivation to do the chores right there, with such sweet company. I don’t have any pets, sadly, so my motivation is ofter lacking (blush).

Sure. They help by spreading filth everywhere so I always have more chores to do. But I love ’em anyway. Well, most of ’em.

A few of my nosy cats love to help me out with the laundry. I wish they didn’t but they insist. I check the drier before I close it and run it. I read about a cat getting caught in the drier, and ever since I’m very careful.

    Love the picture!

Well- as much as I love cats, they aren’t much help as they send me into a tizzy of sneezing and swelling! :)

    Darn it!

Our dog is also great help in the kitchen, she’s quick to pick up anything that drops to the floor.

I do always check the drier & washing machine before I use them and close them to make sure cats aren’t inside.

All three of our pets love to help make the bed by getting between the sheets and the mattress. And the dogs are very good at lying on the kitchen floor exactly where I need to stand to prepare dinner.

    That photo is adorable!

Sure…our cats help…esp the younger one. He’s always happy to grab a sock or a pair of my underwear and push it all around the house…under stuff, through the kitchen, etc. I figure he’s grabbing up dustbunnies. My only problem is that he often leaves it to be found by house guests!

I agree with Allie. Our dog’s favorite way to help is to keep the kitchen floor warm in front of the stove while I cook. I don’t know if I could cook properly without stepping over something! He also likes to add fur to the environment to insure that I vacuum regularly. How thoughtful of him!

we have a daycare dog at the shop who stays in the dryer all day. if we forget to open it, he stares at nick and scratches the door until we let him in. he also tries to attack any other dogs who come near “his” dryer! miss you susy, but i’m back online now so i can check on you often:)

Our dog Davey tries to help with outdoor chores but he mostly attacks the rake (his sworn enemy) and digs holes in the pea gravel. Come to think of it, he’s not that great with the indoor stuff either. He tracks mud on the clean floor and sheds on the bedspread. He’s really just coasting by on his good looks.
