A Trip to Longwood Gardens
Two years ago Mr Chiots and I took a trip to Longwood Gardens. It’s such a wonderful place. Longwood Gardens is great for anyone who loves flowers, trees, gardening and architecture. Located on 1,050 acres with 20 indoor and 20 outdoor gardens, you’ll find beauty at every turn. There are fountains, wooded gardens, Japanese gardens, vegetable gardens, rose gardens and pretty much anything you can think of. In the spring they have a tulip show that is spectacular, hundreds of thousands of bulbs are planted in the fall for the spring show (we got to see many of them). I would highly recommend it as a lovely day for anyone who lives within driving distance (or for those of you who live far away, whenever you make it to the area). Here’s a photo gallery from our trip (early May 2007).

Anyone have any gardens they’d recommend visiting?

Love the slideshow, would love to visit that place, but I have to say the thing I like the most is that slideshow tool.

Oh, I love spring flower shows! A little burst of green right when you need it the most.

Thanks Chicago Mike, this is a new slide show tool that Mr Chiots is testing on my site for a few of his other websites.

Mr Chiots and I are planning a trip to Monticello this summer. I’m so excited. I think Chicago Mike is going this summer as well.

That video is a great job :-) You go to so many interesting places. One of my fav gardens is in North Carolina – the Sarah P. Duke gardens at Duke University. (http://www.hr.duke.edu/dukegardens/) It is actually several gardens all together, but it is huge and a great place to wander through. I went there with my family just before I left there to come back up to New England, and I hope we get a chance to go back – there is so much left to see :-)

Next time I’m in North Carolina I’ll head to the Sarah P. Duke gardens. I’m always game for a day at a garden while traveling.

[…] really can’t explain it and the photos don’t do it justice, you just have to see it in person. (here are a few photos from our last visit) The spring blooms festival was in full swing while we were there, and the tulips were AMAZING! […]
