Endless Entertainment

March 24th, 2009

Our pets provide us with hours of entertainment. It seems like every hour we’re laughing at something one of them is doing. We often grab the camera and snap a few photos.

We have a full glass storm door on the front of our house. In the afternoons when the sun’s shining we open it up, all of the pets love it of course.

Dexter is especially fond of this door. He basks in the sun whenever he can.

I love the progression in these next photos. From a peaceful afternoon nap to a quick bit of fun.

Never a dull moment around here with all of these pets.

What kinds of pets do you have? Do they provide lots of entertainment for you & your family?

The three cats in a row is great. We used to always have cats & a dog but when the last one passed away we never found another pet. I’d love to get another dog one day but at present our home & yard is not very conducive for a dog.

Too many pets, too much fun. Also too much mess, but whatever. That’s the trade-off.

Was this post about your pets? Oh, sorry. I was sure I was just supposed to be looking at your beautiful red door. I love red doors.

I do too Emily. This was one of the first things I did when we moved in. Mr Chiots came home from work one day and I had the front door off the hinged and laying on a big piece of cardboard on the front lawn. I bought a few cans of spray paint and we had a red door.

I also really love black doors.

We have two dogs, 3 cats, 3 pygmy goats and a 13 year old girl. We understand how things are always kind of fun around there. The animals almost always provide comic relief. Good times!

I just love the picture of your three cats at the door. It looks like they’re waiting for you to come home. So cute!
We have a full glass storm door as well. Our dogs love it too. The door mfr. should add that to their marketing – “great for letting your pets bask in the sun”.

They should use that slogan, although then they’d probably want to charge more since it has more “features”.

Pets are great to have around the house – cats, dogs, birds, rodents, whatever! We have 2 dogs right now. We had many cats over the years. The last 3 we had were indoor only cats, but we got a 6×8 covered dog pen and cut a hole in it and added a cat door attached to a porch window. A bit drafty in our Michigan climate but we could always shut the window in the worst of the weather. The cats loved it. They could be outside a bit and still stay contained and safe. And the occasional bird, mole, mouse wandered into the cage for their hunting enjoyment…
The photo of the 3 in front of the door is great.

Pets can give us so much and enliven our days. Mine was just like another kid in the house. He ( Dog) wanted attention all the time and did not even want us to leave the house. If we ignored him he would come up an step on our feet or set in front of us on his hind legs and beg until we talked to him. So I know what you mean about them always doing something to make your day.

We have 2 cats but they don’t play nice so we separate them. That part is a drag but they do love sitting in the sun and walking under foot!

I know what you mean about “being underfoot”. Our cats have this habit of cutting you off when you’re walking by the basement door so you’ll go down there and feed them. It’s like they want to trip you down the steps so you can’t do anything but notice that their bowls are empty.

After our Golden Lab died of old age, about ten years ago, I said “No more animals”. It is just too painful to lose them. Then, seven years ago, we bought a little bunny for our granddaughter. She was scared to death of him (they do scratch and sometimes bite!), so we ended up with a house rabbit, and still have him to this day. Last April, I decided I was just terribly lonely for a dog, and we ended up getting a pair of them. My Doxies, Annie and Otter, are the most precious little things in my life! They are a constant source of joy, laughter and love. And funny pictures :-)

Oh they are sooo adorable. I have always been an animal person, but my parents are not, which is really odd! I’d have several cats and dogs if I could but sadly in this season of my life it simply isn’t possible!

Well our email address includes the word ‘zoo’, so that should give you a hint of our proclivity to collect animals. 4 dogs, 11 cats (eek) 3 goldfish and the recently added 6 chickens.

LOVE the red door….we have a bright blue door here and I love it, it is so cheerful to have that pretty splash of color! And the photos are excellent. We have 3 rescue dogs here, one of whom is a rescue with issues who was rehabbed & became a professional racing sled dog doing distance races (up to 1,000 mile races) before deciding she was ready for retirement & a life spent hogging all the squeaky toys at my home. :)

I love animals. We currently have 8 goldfish (7 red & 1 black) a mini foxi named Sparky, A budgie named Ozzie (he is green & yellow) and another bird we are miinding and Billy. all the animals get on great & our 2yr old son loves them all. He is really into talking care of them. Wants to help feeding them, washing the dog, all that type of stuff, which I feel is really good for him. Animals, no matter what they are, are beneficial to humans.

The red door is so inviting, I love homes with that. And even though I don’t have an animal living with me, seeing yours provides a big smile to my face. Especially the one of Dexter basking in the sun – it reminds me of the apartment I shared in grad school, my apartment mate and I would just sit on the sofa in front of the sunniest window reading for hours. Comforting and revitalizing like none other.

We have always had animals in our lives. Probably at the lowest number we have ever been right now … one quite old dog… our beloved cat… and my daughter has 2 ferrets (also getting up in years).

They are a constant source of entertainment. My cat is my garden helper who follows me around and sits quietly or sleeps nearby so that I am within his sight. It’s charming actually.
